Her dad bought us the Bob stroller and her grandma sent us a car seat. Can't remember the brand name right now but I'm happy. They just saved us a lot of money. :D

I loathe car seat shopping. Almost as much as I loathe potty training (which my littlest at 16 months has decided to start doing).

I need to buy new booster seats and I need a car seat and two boosters that fit across in the back of a truck and it is. Im.Pos.Si.ble.

Not to mention I'm a small person with tiny hands and its virtually impossible to INSTALL the bastards all three across.

Someone have a girl so I can send them a box of nauseatingly frilly one of a kind girlie stuff.

Anyway, back to the first question. Radians are supposedly the best (and narrowest) car seats but they are a small fortune.

Ironically we have that Evenflo car seat lol. It did fit in our SUV I wonder why it didn't in yours.

Don't forget that they expire after 5 yrs (well in Canada they do). That's why I have to replace all our old ones (we have seats for both vehicles because they are a real PITA to switch and the ones that fit in the van won't in the truck). But I just bought a nice little one for YDD at Walmart for $64 and it fits perfectly with the other two in the back...sort of...I think its an Evenflo too.

The hell? Why would a car seat expire? Plastic fatigue?

    :wtf:

The same reason seat belts and airbags expire.

Bah. I know my airbags are fine. That's why that "airbag" light in my gauge cluster stays on all the time, right? :ramen:

Plastic breaks down in sunlight. In Iraq we had to shitcan expired water bottles, especially if they were left out in the intense summer sun too long. Tiny bits of plastic start flaking away into the water as it breaks down.

Fishing line also (quite rapidly too) loses it's strength if kept in the sun too long.

That's why there is outdoor (black generally) PVC pipe and indoor (white).
Use indoor outside where it's exposed to intense sun and get ready for hilarity!

BTW - sorry if white versus black pipe laying seems ghey.

His feet will hang off :) its just inevitable. If you are doing rear facing they can kind of do a 'yoga sit' and if you are forward facing...they will just hang off. And then they'll grow bigger and hang farther.

Car seats expire because of the wear and tear on them from being in the vehicle/sun for so long. The plastic and straps start to break down after awhile and they are no longer reliable in an accident. Frankly I don't concern myself about it too much - but some of my friends are car seat nazi's. My kids even *gasp* wear their coats in the seat because I'll be damned if I'm going to put coats on and off in -30-50C weather (not to mention if we get an accident and they are left in the cold for a long period of time and die from hypothermia) and the baby is forward facing under 2 yrs in the truck because it was the only way all the seats would fit. I even leave them in the vehicle outside the window while run into the atm at the bank or take the cart back - so totally lose the mother of the year award and some of the mothers would be in convulsions and foaming at the mouth over that. Some of these head honcho people who make the rules are dead in the head.

Heh. The one time I was in a bad accident, the only injury I sustained was from the gorram airbag.
