I don't even watch NASCAR and I don't want protests in sports, but they're fighting back. That I like.

It's like people don't even know the history of NASCAR, let alone that which they hold dear - the confederate flag.

NASCAR isn’t something most folks can really get into over TV. It needs to be experienced in person to get hooked.

The incredible speed and power only really comes through when you can FEEL the engines from 100 meters away. When you see the cars go by between two campers (so can’t move your eyes to follow). Not to mention the atmosphere of the infield. It’s a damn redneck Mardi Gras. Plus the drivers and crews are very accessible to the public so you actually get to meet and shake hands with ‘your’ team.

Once you’ve gotten invested THEN you can watch on TV.

my preference is dirt track racing.

Yeah, ear damage, and sucking up all that exhaust is what really sells it.

We already know one car that can beat the POS nazi police bootlicker car.

NASCAR would be much more interesting if the tracks weren't ovals. Just making left turns at 180mph gets kinda boring. Make an "L" shaped track, or a figure 8 with an overpass in the middle, then you'd have something.

Every NASCAR fan I've ever met knows the history. That doesn't mean they hate the police.

Or just make it like the Hot Wheels Criss Cross Crash track.

No one said they had to hate the police. But, if they "back the badge" over BLM, then they either don't know or don't understand the history. It's really that simple.

Then they don't understand. It's really that simple.

In the early days of auto racing (before even NASCAR was around) the teams weren't given piles of cash by automakers or corporate sponsors, so the races were more like Junkyard Challenges than hi-tech goobers racing around in circles until they disappeared up their own assholes. Teams would climb through junkyards looking for various parts to try to gain an advantage. One old-timer told me about how teams would eagerly crawl over International Trucks from the 30s, looking to see if they still had any of their tie-rod ends as those had hollow shafts on them (opposed to the solid ones most other vehicles have) since they were just as strong, but a hair lighter. The guys racing around the tracks weren't doing it in cars that they knew exactly how many miles were on the various parts, they were doing it in cars that were an assemblage of stock parts, custom parts, and things that they could scrounge from junkyards. They had to hope that it would all hold together for the race. That kind of stuff takes skills and provides a level of interest not found in today's racing.
