Just started reading, but isn't it "Yahren" not "Yarhen"?

Not at all, but I thought you might want it pointed out.

Of course, in Marso's universe, it COULD be Yarhen not Yahren.

Certainly, but it would seem a little pointless to have a word so close to one in the original series, but not quite the same spelling.

That's because he's writing in American rather than English :P

All episodes up through Contemplations have been re-edited/ wordsmithed and I intend to post them as a combined file, which is basically "Part I: The Thousand Yahren War" in my story gallery thread. Contemplations used to be the opening chapter of Part II but I felt that it fit better at the end of Part I so it is hereby moved. Look for the revised file in the story gallery thread.

If you've read through Contemplations then the new file doesn't really warrant a re-read unless you are a grammar nazi, but there are two little things of note:

    1. I did change the spelling of 'yahren'. Never accuse me of not acting on feedback. If I feel like it, anyway. :D

    2. The title 'President' has been replaced with a made-up title, 'Taryn'. Just a personal foible- I thought the former sounded a little too contemporary. My version mixes nu and classic BSG but leans towards the latter, and I decided I didn't like the 'president' deal. Yeah, I know they used it in the original. I don't care. Sue me or burn me in effigy.

    Part II is getting underway....

You must be a mind reader or something. During my 9 hour stay in the airline terminals of MRY and SFO I started working on this again. I've got about ten pages of the next section done. The trick now will be to keep it up and my interest up until the 'bug' digs in like a tick and I get on a roll with it.

There is hope, though. I'm feeling pretty burned out on Dragon Age right now...

Okay, I've found the groove again, at least for a while.

40+ pages in the last five days; there'll be a new segment up sometime in the next few days, with more to come after.

The problem right now is that the story is in a place where there are a lot of little 'housekeeping' style details that need to be gotten through before I can get to the Big Damn Stories of the mythology that I really want to tell (or rehash in my own way... :P)

Ever try putting together a whole refugee fleet in the wake of a civilization destroying holocaust? It's work, I tell ya! WORK!

Well, after 40+ pages our heroes are just about ready to bust out of Ragnar Anchorage and begin their lonely quest...

I'm about 33 pages into 'Carillon' right now. This is going to end up being a bigger chunk that I originally anticipated.

Trying to get these guys to the Red Line, but the Cylons disagree!

One thing I realize I've inadvertently done here- in a sci-fi sort of setting, I've basically shown the blueprint of what I think an 'ideal' military organization should be like, at the root level. Thinking back on the other stuff I've written, I don't think I've had the opportunity to do that. This story provided it, especially because of the state of 'constant' warfare facing the colonies and the no-holds-barred, 'it's-us-or-them' mentality of it.
