I drive by the original tower records everyday. Now it’s a used cd store.

Oh yeah, it did start in Sacramento, didn't it? I thought they'd turned it into a Goodwill some years back.

The Tower Records brand is still alive and kicking in Japan, however. A lot of old American brands get huge there, like Mister Donut.

Actually, we've been getting some CDs lately of our favorite pop/rock stuff from our youth.
My wife still has a CD player in her car, so she listens to them while she drives. Me, I burn them to a thumb drive, which my (1 year newer) car can use.
If it's just one old favorite, I'll buy the MP3 from Amazon.

I've been wanting to purchase some Bone Rock as part of my classes on the Cold War. But the last ones I saw on ebay were horrendously expensive.

In the 1960s I think it was people in the Soviet Union wanted to make copies of rock music records but were prohibited by the government and materials to do so were restricted.

They found that old x-rays proved useable for cutting records. The old used x-rays still had their images of bones on them of course. I always thought that was way cool.
