I'm completely sure we had that thread not too long ago but somehow I'm unable to fine it. Anyway. I thought of two more that get me every time: The Nobel speech in A BEAUTIFUL MIND and the president's speech in INDEPENDENCE DAY. Crowe is good anyway. I his speeches - as well as his acting - in GLADIATOR. It's something in his voice that makes me almost swoon every time he says something.
I think it's most excellent. The delivery is spot on and the words are inspiring even tho we're not in that situation
Aragorns speech before the black gates? The actual speech was cobbled together from other (better) speeches by Eomer, Aragorn and Theoden. But it was still well delivered
Theoden totally owned Aragorn (and everyone else) when it came to speechifying. That speech before the Rohirrim charged the Orcs made me want to grab a sword and horse and join 'em...
Well, I believe in the soul, the cock, the pussy, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendement outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days. -- Crash Davis
This one is from a movie that I consider to be crap but it is one of the best sports speeches I've ever seen in a movie. Take a listen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wl5W1G_597c&search=pacino speech
I like Pullman's speech in ID4 right up until this clumsy line: "Today we celebrate our Independence Day." And the grease monkey who gives him the empassioned salute doesn't help. Let's see...good speeches... How about Kenneth Branagh's St. Crispin's Day speech in Henry V?
OTOH, just imagine the George W. Bush version... "In less than...er...maybe an hour...y'all will be joining aircraft....um...from...uh, all over Earth and parts beyond...I mean, from just this planet...and y'all will be...you know...uh, fightin' a pretty big naval battle, you know, up in the air..."
Boss's "A man's got a right to defend his life and his property" speech in Open Range. Theoden before the ride of the Rohirrim. "It's a shield day! A red day!" The dicks, pussies, and assholes speech from Team America.
Ron Ely giving the Doc Savage code speech in the otherwise-horrible Doc Savage, Man of Bronze. George C. Scott giving the Romans vs Carthaginians speech in Patton.
"Fruity Oaty Bars! Make a man out of a mouse! Fruity Oaty Bars! Make you bust out of your blouse! Eat them all the time! Let them blow your mind... ohh! Fruity Oaty Bars! "
Is that the ditty from Serenity right before River went and kicked the crap out of Jayne and the rest of the bar?
Maybe not the "best" but definitely classics.... Animal House - Bluto's Speech The Breakfast Club - Letter to Mr. Vernon Apocalypse Now - Kilgore's Napalm in the morning Braveheart - William Wallace freedom speech And this movie was was so good it deserves at least two... The Shawshank Redemption - Red's Parole Speech The Shawshank Redemption - Red finds Andy I still practically well up for this one!
I didn't much care for it. He sounded too much like Bradley Whitford doing the cheezy Hamlet sketch in Billy Madison.
Better still, his opening speech... Patton Speech on YouTube That's probably the best movie speech EVUH!
I don't know is it classifies as a speach, but I love Col. Nathan R. Jessup's Response to Lt Kaffie's request for the truth in A few good men... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwyj78FpYt4
Not that great to read it, but it really was one of Picard's more powerful moments. Also, http://picardartclass.ytmnd.com/
