For the love of God, no more friggin Rose. Towards the end, she was right up there with Adric and Mel as the most annoying companion.
There damned well better be a good plot device to work around the whole "Can't get back from the parallel universe, EVER!!" problem. And I hope they don't dwell too long on some kind of jealous angst between Rose and Martha. I hate that kind of shit.
I think it could be quite good It could also be total crap, but Who hasn't let me down half as much as i've expected since its rebirth
On the other hand, they may devote as much screen time as they want to an intimate relationship between Martha and Rose.
they seem to be packing too much into this season, imo it would've made more sense to bring her back in one of the three specials planned for 2009.
Ooh... Sontarans, you say? Possibly my first ever who ep was "The Sontaran Experiment." Off topic, that's the problem with doing the shows as self-contained 1-hour eps (or two parters)--they don't have the time to develop things the way they did in the serials. In The Old Days, it would take 10-15 minutes for people to start to trust the Doctor. And there'd be some time while the Doctor figured out the problem and more time while he came up with a clever solution. The new episodes--especially the Tenant eps are way too manic for me. It's like "Hi! I'm the Doctor." "Oh. OK!" [runs around frantically, whips out the deus ex machina solution, happily ever after, TARDIS dematerializes] That and I don't like that he's romantically involved with humans. It's like, I don't know, being romantically involved with your goldfish or something. Maybe a dog would be a better analogy. The Doctor likes humans, is quite fond of them in many ways. But he is an ancient, powerful alien and he really doesn't fit in anywhere. That's part of his charm.
this is RTD we're talking about, his plot devices tend consist of glowing lights acting as reset buttons, so i'm preparing myself for a big steaming pile of crap of an excuse. hopefully the eps will that good the crap plot device can be forgiven.
Then what was his reason for not doing that in the first place? Remember the episode where they witnessed her father's death? The Doctor expressed serious misgivings about re-visiting the same point in time more than once.
Maybe Peter Davison Doctor told him "what happened to you man? You used to be cool about futzing the timestream. Loosen up".
this is why i figure they should've brought her back for three specials - no need for any plot devices, just an arc set in three different points of the dr's adventures - including one prior to AoG/doomsday - with a connecting thread.
mind you, i am looking forward to the agatha christie episode, especially if marthas in it: MJ: so agatha, which book are you working on? AC: its called ten little ni... DR: MARTHAaaaaaaa
I haven't seen anything since Season 2. So the Dr. gets a new love interest? Rose better kick her ass!
No, not exactly. In fact, it's actually the Doctor that is the "love interest" and he remains utterly oblivious to it (semi-intentionally).
Wow... i really didn't think they would do this. Although i suppose if it's only three episodes as oppose to here coming back "permanently" its not so bad. I just hope they do a good job with it. I like Rose and all, but i've always been dubious about her returning.
I'm about halfway through the third series, and so far Martha Jones has underwhelmed me. I say bring back Rose. (Naked, of course.)
Last we heard, Rose was working for the Parallel Earth's version of Torchwood - possibly even in charge of it. (And in that universe, TW is not a super-secret organization anymore, but out in the open.) So anyway...Rose would have access to all sorts of alien tech...
There is close to zero chance of it actually happening, but how awesome would it be if the announcment about Billie Piper is just a cover to detract attention away from a multiple doctors story involving Eccleston.
Hey! Hey! I liked Eccleston in the role and wish he'd stayed another season before bringing in Tennant, who I also like in the role.
