I think Prometheus was one of the players who only used like five turns and then apparently gave up on the game.

Probably either ran into a mine field :(, self-destructed, or maybe was an abandoned account of a current player.

It is with a heavy heart that the Chimaera and her crew today had to liberate sectors 267, 396, 437, 438, 932, 1230, 1391, 3802, 3803, 3837 and 4630 from the Seeker dictatorship, we Chiss are a peaceloving people but we respond to any aggressive action against our holdings with ruthless aggression.

Any attempts to join in on this attack against the Alliance will be met with a similar response.

What aggression? Did I miss something (other than 50 of my planets getting captured)?

Then I can only assume you attacked my planets rather than theirs because I was an easier target.

    File under: guts, lack of.

Somebody took a SOFA shot (heh) or two at one of my planets as well. Pretty obvious who it was, too.

    Just saying.

I'll own to making a run on one of Redshirt's worlds after Thrawn's cowardly attack, more in an attempt to see if I could actually do any damage than anything else. Since I can't and I just lost 80% of my planets, it's safe to say I'm not going to be hitting back any further.

(Well, I could take Foil, but then he seems like a nice chap and I'll wait until he's kicked my ass at Halo before deciding. ;) )

That action was not sanctioned by the Seekers, BTW (though I'm not sure why retaliation would have to be). And, as far as I'm aware, neither were the other SOFAs you mentioned.

I attacked because I consider an attack by one Seeker to be an attack by all of them. After a certain Seeker member violated a minefield for the second time to scan a planet and then SOFA'd another planet every member of the Seekers became an enemy.

Seekers aren't supposed to attack. :wtf: When I was a member, I was given explicit orders NOT to attack, and to retreat whenever a system had any type of defenses.

Unless this has changed since I left, I can't understand why anyone would be attacked by a Seeker.

It's pretty clear that it was either a mistake or the Alliance is lying in order to justify their attack.

Look, I may not be in the habit of tanking up on torps, but I do leave some on each planet I colonize.

Somebody scanned one of my planets eight times (priceless, innit? I'm so proud ;)), paying toll twice to do so, and that middling-aged planet, once I happened to look at its stats more closely, was utterly out of torpedoes.

My gunners are instructed not to waste torpedoes on target practice or passing comets, you know. Something had to be there for them to shoot at. :chris:

Now, I'm not sure off-hand whether this happened before or after darkstryke began retaliating, but it happened. I don't lie about such things.

Personally I bear you and Matt Hunter and Shakes no ill-will; from where I stand all three of you've been pretty quiet for players who are part of an alliance designed to go around poking into things. (BTW, I got sol-bumped into one of your sectors a few minutes ago :soma:; it wasn't an attempt to attack.) But these Imperial Grand Admirals tend to have a scorched-earth policy, you know . . .

I twice paid a toll to enter one of your systems today, but I only scanned your planets. From what I recall, they were pretty well stocked.

Edit: I should also note that I have never SOFAed a planet in either this round or last round, only direct assaults (and that was only in the last round).

Oh, and if it were a mistake both times ( which is certainly something I would be capable of  ), I'd think the offending player would have the courtesy or self-preservation instinct to drop a note saying "Oops, sorry about that."

I don't really know what happens when one SOFAs a planet, but doesn't it say something like "Are you sure you want to attack this planet?" I know it does this when you go attack ships or planets, and also when you want to destroy a planet.

I've been abiding by Seeker rules, that's all. Don't enter a system with defences unless there are fighters set to toll. That's kept me out of sectors with a mere 10K sector defence fighters in the past. And I only scan one planet per sector to keep our records on tech levels up to date.

Also, is it possible that some sort of planetary apocalypse (similar to plasma storms) wiped out your torpedoes? Did you check your logs thoroughly?

Yeah, but sometimes you notice just as you click a link that it's the wrong link, and in the panic of the moment your finger slips and you make an even worse mistake.

    Well, I do, anyway. :discuss:

I'm just supposing the benefit of the doubt.

Never heard of such a thing targeting the torpedoes, but yes I checked my logs. I've had a couple of Space Plagues today and a Plasma Storm yesterday, but none of them affected the planet in question. On the other hand, I've also got records of a particular player entering the sector in question twice in a row for purposes of scanning the planet in question four times in each case. All of this presumably centering around the time of the mysterious disappearance of the torpedoes in question.

(Good grief, this sounds like the set-up for a Sherlock Holmes or Poirot mystery. :whacko: Prove that the guy who was found on the scene etc. etc. didn't really do it, with a bunch of peculiarities all initially combining to increase the probability that he's the murderer. Sherlock would have a hard time finding his way around this circumstantial evidence, though.)

The energy level on WQ-45-2 dipped and the torp level plummeted after multiple scans by a certain Seeker member earlier today, and these weren't the rapid scans that you expect to see when someone tries to clarify question marks on them, these were scans with a gap in em sizable enough to rearm on fighters in between peeks at the planet.

Chewie broke that rule today, he knew sector 26 was mined because his first incursion a few days ago took a good chunk of the sector's minefield out, he reentered and hit the minefield again today, after that he went on to scan a planet in the sector instead of immediately leaving.

Well, I can't speak for him, but I was always under the impression that we're to turn away if at least one fighter, set to attack, is present in the system. Unless he actually attacked you, no harm was intended.

Also, he may have done a blind jump into the system, forgetting that there were sector defenses. From your logs, it looks like he hadn't visited that sector in over a week. It's also possible he was being paid to do some reconnaissance work.

Also, I hope we can have a truce and not further hostilities any more. I don't know when Chewie will log on, but he should be able to clear some things up.

I also removed that mine trap I set up. ;)
