Well, as I said originally, I was initially against the Violet Room. The Admins raised some good arguments, and I thought, okay we can give it a shot, so I set it all up. I stand by them. They're good people trying to make things work for a community that is... unique.

Well, before I go to bed, I'll let you know I made the call to ban his ass. No, I didn't get in a powwow with @gul and @shootER who will both be with their families and not here and no I don't feel good about it. But no one else has the right to manipulate a situation the way he has. His PMs were working to.let us know he had an issue with the VR before we opened him up to the rest of the board. Why did he pick his buddy Dinner, who hates gul? Why did he pick you, who also hates gul?

Just THINK. I'm asking from one sane, intelligent human being to another, just THINK about this.

gturner's intentions are irrelevant. The real issue here is did he break the rules. The answer is clearly no. Did he drive away people, new or old? Doubtful. So why ban him? Really, why?

The only people he was truly manipulating was you. The rest of us just glossed over his posts...and if you can tolerate constant racism on the board then one would think you're a big enough girl to tolerate someone who spams.

I'm still waiting for an answer as to why those who can't handle gturner posts couldn't simply ignore them. Last time I checked that feature was still here.

It's an obvious solution to us since it's the only way we can completely tune out a poster that we simply don't want to deal with anymore. When you've got an adminCP that can permanently silence someone you don't like. I'm sure it can be very tempting for some people to use.

all discussion of bannings and shit aside, plenty of people have left and the board endures. Some bitching now left and came back and it didn't matter to the board.

If everyone of the Trumpets got mad and boycotted (gturner, Ramen, M.Bison, Volpone, et al) t would make no significant difference to the board. (and it would be a lot more pleasant experience). Over the course, of, say, a year, likely we'd pick up two or more participants (either those who are members but don't bother already, or new people) for everyone boycotting. I can think of several Facebook friends I'd potentially invite if it hadn't given over to the repetitive drone of the Trumpets (mind you, I assume discussion of Trump will, and should, continue but the faux-reddit trolling is repetitive and seriously lacks originality).

"what if no one showed up" is a self absorbed question, if that ever happens it will be the result of a long slow painful attrition, not some dramatic walkout
