Check the FoxNews website. It's in the Breaking News banner at the top of the page. I'm watching FoxNews on TV right now. They felt it in D.C. and FN is reporting that they are evacuating the Capitol building.
Little shake here in Connecticut, only lasted a few seconds. Friends in Virginia said it was house shaking for about 20 seconds. Send those back to the West Coast, plz.
Noticable shaking here in NYC --lasted a few seconds, went away, came back. Have a walkie on scan right now & it's going apeshit.
Wait a sec, epicenter was between Richmond and Charlottsville. Obviously the Army of the Potomac has risen from the grave and is rampaging across Northern Viriginia one last time.
EARTHQUAKES IN THE CENTRAL VIRGINIA SEISMIC ZONE Last big one was in 1875, apparently, and only 4.8. This one's been upgraded to a 5.9, BTW. Rather substantial.
I think it's God's punishment for all those Yankees moving into Northern Virginia and trying to take down our Confederate flags, monuments, and memorials. It wouldn't surprise me to find out that the epicenter was in Lexington.
Apparently the Capitol building and the Pentagon have been evacuated. Must have been pretty big in DC
Much like the New York Jets(See what I'm about to do here), the AoNV folded likea cheap tent when the chips were on the table.
5.9's a pretty good-sized quake. I imagine this has all those people on the East Coast who aren't used to quakes a little rattled...
I felt it strongly here in Northern NJ. My entire building swayed back and forth like a boat in rough seas. The entire office started freaking out and I had to calm them down (since I lived through two huge quakes in CA - '71 Sylmar & '94 Northridge). We're only on the third floor, but it was a good shaker. I have friends in the DC area who are saying the government employees are being told that more are coming to and seek shelter. I wonder what the government knows that they're not telling us??? IT'S OBAMA'S FAULT!!!!
Are there any missile silos or large munitions stores near the epicenter? Would make an interesting plot line for a thriller. Or they're just anticipating aftershocks.
Felt nothing in Portadown NI. That being said though, why would there be earthquakes on the US atlantic coast anyway... there are no plate boundaries within thousands of miles...
