Very depressing night last night. The baddies won with a landslide. What the fuck is wrong with people? The upshot of this is that we will certainly have Brexit in January now, although a large majority does not give Boris Johnoson the ability to alter the reality that he won't get a trade deal done in 11 months after that as he has claimed. Some people are saying that since he now has room for manuevure, we could see a softer Brexit than otherwise.
Well, first of all, I should have kept up with this thread all along. Just went through the whole thread looking for the moment either Ten Lubed Ass sloughed off his humanity like a snake skin, and became a Brexiter, or came out as always being such. Once the UK goes to a private education system they won't be able to come over to the US and undercut american students with their lack of student loan debt and their superior education system. The LOL's aren't about to stop any time soon. Johnson is promising to have a full trade deal done by the time the tranisiton period ends in 2020, which everyone assures him is impossible. Today he announced that he was legislating to make it illegal for the government to request an extension to this transition period. Despite having been on the uptick recently, the value of Sterling promptly nosedived. It also took him less than 4 full days to regage on his pledge to gaurantee workers and environmental rights in place after Brexit. And he's still lying brazenly about there being no need for checks between NI and GB. (His own officials and the Europeans insist that there will.) Predictions of him moving to the center appear to be ill-founded. He still has Javid, Patel, Raab, Reese-Mogg & IDS in senior posts. I can't quite decide which of these people is worst.
So it seems the UK is timed to explode about the same time as the 2020 elections. You know what that means. Apocalypse party 2020!
Unless I'm mistaken, you supported Boris Johnson and the the Conservatives in the recent election, correct? Boris and the Conservatives have made it pretty clear they are moving forward with Brexit, so how do you reconcile supporting them? Please correct me if I'm missing something.
From what I've read, this result came about because (1) anybody but Corbyn, and (2) the anti-Brexiters split their votes and the Tories managed to keep unified. And toss in a little "Brexiters had a soundbite, Remainers had a wall of text," just for texture.
