I have mixed feelings about this. Okay, maybe the system is not "intentionally" racist, but what about accidentally racist? Shouldn't something be done about that? On the other hand, it is a positive message that individuals not drown themselves in fatalism and blame for the system when in fact they have the power to improve their situation.

Britain does not have the same history of racial slavery the US has. I am not sure what history GB has of things like not allowing blacks to vote, and the overwhelming racial oppression the US had after the slaves were freed. They may not have as much to overcome internally. The may have more of a colonial history to overcome.

I still have to wonder how true this is given the way racism is sneaky and racists hate to be labelled as racists. To say that they do not have troubles with racism while still having the royal family freak out over black babies and princesses may be a huge indicator there is some racism going on somewhere. Maybe they do not have the huge gap the US racists cling to with a death grip, but I would imagine there are some racists. You don't want to let racists freely breed and run about. They are like roaches and ants. Once they start spreading you get a big problem quickly. Next thing you know you have Boris killing parliment and going full trump.

That's certainly not the place I would have expected to publish such conclusions.

We do have to realize white supremacy and it's ideas came from europe where the white people come from. Where did the best racists in the world (The US) learn racism from? We learned it from the countries we came from, and one of them was the britain the biggest imperialist colonizers of the world before we refined racism and set that shit to 11. One of the reasons britain cannot be as big in the racism anymore is because the US and Germany (in ww2) used up most of the white supremacy. But we still loan them some.

I think most people are aware the report was way off the mark and how horrific our history is.

I would, however, point out that for all our many faults there are far more racist parts of the world than either the US or Britain. Let's not overlook just how much worse things could be if we allowed it, ethnic cleansing still happens after all.

I have mixed feelings on whether flat out killing the ethnicity you are against is better or worse than making them slaves and torturing and raping them for the rest of their lives while trying to genetically and mentally cripple them to the point where they are too much like livestock to participate in society. I am pretty sure had slaves been around for modern medicine wew would have allowed them to be experimented on like lab rats, and done far more hideous things over all to them.

I guess we did turn around on that sort of thing. Really, if you look at the natives of the americas we did help with the ethnic cleansing of many native american people. One of the reasons there are not so many people reminding us about american ethnic cleansing is because we did it better. While we were killing the natives we were making color coded slaves. We were fucking awful. (I say we as now i am a member of the society but all my ancestors came from europe in the 1900s)

Absolutely, I'm just drawing a clear distinction between the widely acknowledged current racism in the US/UK and the much more severe and unrestrained examples which abound round the world and throughout history.

We've arguably engaged in instances of at least partial genocide and could well do again but I'd question whether refugees from the Balkans, the DRC or Syria would agree that the current state of affairs here is akin to the routine massacres, mass rapes and torture they've been exposed to.
