Too soon after new BSG to make much sense Especialy with at least 1 straight to DVD movie being made...
This was reported in Time magazine earlier this year "movie based on old sucky Battlestar: Galactica might beat movie based on new, cool Battlestar: Galactica to the big screen" Apparently, there is a considerable level of rivalry between those who want to see a different version of the original and those who want to base a movie on Ron Moore's reimagining of the series. Personally, I would love to see a movie version more based upon the original as I never warmed up to Ron Moore's reimagining.
I'm not sure what's left of the Moore version to show on the big screen. That story is concluded, with pretty much all of the needed details already filled in. There's really only room for either a prequel set during the first Cylon war, or a story that expands some part of the ragtag fleet's journey that wasn't shown in the series. Tough to do without trampling on that series, since we already know how they end up, who survives, who's a Cylon, etc.
They're going to show the nuBSG cast living on Earth, wiping their asses with leaves and wishing to hell that they had saved their technology.
