I don't think the accusation is that he dodged out of getting a dental exam, or avoided payment and retirement credits. But that's just me.
The accusation is that Bush went AWOL when he was reassigned to Alabama, an accusation which (at least to those of us who aren't completely addled by Bush Derangement Syndrome) records of him getting payment credits for service in Alabama, getting a medical exam on the military base and meeting his overall service obligation for the period in question prove to be false.
Don't be silly. Liberals never allow facts to interfere with their beliefs. To the Leftie, reality is just an Inconvenient Truth, to be warped and manipulated until it supports their worldview. CLINTON GOT IMPEACHED FOR GETTING A BLOWJOB! THE SUPREME COURT RIGGED THE ELECTION! BUSH LIED ABOUT WMDS! BUSH WAS A DRAFT DODGER! KERRY WAS A WAR HE-RO! etcetera, etcetera, etcetera...
So which of those is actually inaccurate? 'Cos as far as I can see, there's nothing there that anyone who's at home to Mr Reality could argue with. And I hate myself for ending a sentence with a preposition, but given the level of delusion around here, it's the lesser of several evils...
Well, there are noninsane arguments that the second element of that list is false. The kind of recount Gore had asked for wouldn't have changed anything 'cause the dumbfuck didn't want the only fair kind of recount, a statewide recount, and his request for a limited recount wouldn't have gotten him enough votes. In any event, the Florida legislature was all ready to step in and rig the election if the Supreme Court had ruled differently and the results of a recount were in doubt. So, in the end, the Supreme Court was pretty irrelevant to the 2000 election, and, even though its decision in Bush v. Gore was a monumental travesty of idiotic nonreasoning, stopping the kind of patently unfair recount Gore asked for was actually the right result. But, yeah, the rest of the list is pretty indisputable by anyone within sniffing distance of the realm of reality.
Anyone who thinks that Clinton was impeached just for getting a blowjob instead of committing a FUCKING FELONY by lying under oath and equates serving in the Air National Guard (a service in which people did die during training) with draft dodging has left Mr Reality behind long, long ago.
Clinton got impeached for lying onder oath in relation to a sexual harrassment lawsuit. That was arguably deserved. The subtext of moral outrage coming from the likes of Newt Gingrich, not so much. Meh. The 2000 election was fucked on up many levels. In the end, neither candidate would have had much of a mandate. Lied? Probably not. Obsessively focused on every unreliable, unverified scrap of intelligence that suggested Saddam had WMDs and strong links to AQ? Yes. Intentionally ignored everything else that suggested otherwise? Yes. Bush didn't go to Vietnam. That's a fact. To some, that makes him a draft dodger. Kerry served in Vietnam. He was awarded a Bronze Star, a Silver Star and three Purple Hearts. Served in a war + awarded several medals = War hero. Doesn't mean I'd vote for him, though.
Considering that not a single person who voted to impeach Clinton has called for Bush's impeachment for suborning perjury by instructing pretty much every member of his administration who's testified to Congress to lie under oath, the claim that Clinton was impeached for lying under oath rather than for political yuks has moved from extremely dubious to indisputably false.
We've gone over these things ad nauseum and I'm not going over them again because it somehow doesn't stick. I could spend a half hour explaining these point by point and then tomorrow you'd be like: It's like "Groundhog Day" or something.
