Remember, we're paranoid about gun grabbers using this as an opportunity to pass stil more gun control.

And there you have one of the reasons for Obamacare. Once the gubmint is in charge of your healthcare, you will be required to submit to a mental health screening. You can figure it out from there.

They don't have to get the ones you've got, just make it so you can't get more. Make us jump through the same hoops to get handguns that they make us do for machine guns...require a registry and then close the registry...tax parts out of existance...tax ammunition out of existance...require gunsmiths to be FFLs...

Actually, I doubt there's much to worry about here. We've got a newly R-Congress and people largely see through this emotion-driven liberal bullshit these days. I predict this bill will die the swift death.

Besides, if Congress really wants to face a hail of gunfire, just try grabbing the guns. Then it won't be a lone nut at a Safeway- it'll be half of America unloading in their fucking faces.

At present I have all the weapons I want and enough ammo to ensure that I won't be hurting for any of that stuff any time soon. I won't be registering any weapons- they already have the registry in the guise of the forms 4473 which, IIRC, dealers are required to keep on hand for twenty years. If they show up at the door to confiscate, punish, or what not based on information they already have, that's when the gunfight will happen. Everyone has to die of something, right? Might as well be something you believe in. :bergman:

Free men will not be disbarred the use of arms.

Uh oh, someone shot some people with a gun. Well, hey let's try and violate the Constitution and ignore everyone's right to keep and bare arms.

Fucking insane Congress. All the gun laws in the world can't prevent things like what happened on Saturday from happening.

The funny thing about gun control (limiting access to people) is that people using guns to commit crime don't care about the law anyway, so while the public is banned from having body armor and auto guns, the criminals now have more power than law enforcement.

You break one law, might as well break more.

    I'm not Pro-gun.
    I'm anti-gun.
But I can still follow logic.

    Remember, they are voted in.

    And correct.
But one can start assessing how society allows someone who does this tot be created By the Society.

Though I am not one of your constituents, I nevertheless will hope that my thoughts will be with you on the congressional floor this Monday:

    Fuck you.

    Found a loophole.....if I cannot use a 17 round capacity clip -
I can carry two guns loaded with 10 rounds each.

I think anyone with the McCarthy should not be elected to office. It seems like people with that last name have a propensity to limit and take away Constitutional rights from the citizens.

this woman needs to have a big, spiked dildo shoved up her nose and then be told to shut the fuck up. Using a tragedy to push one's personal agenda lacks class.

If I got in my car and started running down pedestrians and senators, not one person would use the incident to push an agenda to ban personal automobiles in favor of public transportation. Why? Because apparently Carolyn McCarthy has less tact that your average tree-hugger, and that's saying something.

I find it odd that the further to the left someone is, as a general rule, the more they insist on the constitutional right not to be deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of the law (which is a very good thing; I am enough of a liberal to insist on that myself). Yet at the same time, many of them are willing to deprive law-abiding citizens of liberty (to own guns) and, in some cases even of their property (the guns they already have) without due process.

Can someone who agrees with this kind of limitation of the constitutionally guaranteed right to bear arms please explain this to me? (I know that those who disagree with it can "explain" it easily, in quick, vulgar and simplistic terms. But I really would be interested in hearing someone who approves of this dichotomy try to explain it.)

Weapons in the hands of citizens are an empowerment of the individual, not the collective. The leftist wants the state to install a particular social order (usually involving massive transfers of wealth and property) on the people and knows that this is impossible so long as individuals have the capability to resist. Ergo, private ownership of guns must not be allowed, even for the responsible and law-abiding.

That's it in a nutshell. The left is all about pessimism. They see the worst in people. We the people are evil, brutal and ignorant children. We cannot be trusted with individual freedoms, and we need the state to provide + think for us.

The funny thing is they seem to ignore the fact that the people who they hold that level of contempt for are also the ones who have to elect their sorry asses into office.

    It's called lying.

How do you know a leftist is lying to you? When they are speaking.

A leftist will say anything they need to in order to convince you to go along with them. Once you do however is when they pull a fast one on you and start wrecking things.

It was funny that with the election of Obama they really thought the country was turning "left" and they were more open about what they really want.

These are the same people who will swear up and down about the importance of the First Amendment but if they ever had a clear shot at it would take out Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, Fox News, and any other group or person that they didn't like.

Leftists can never be trusted. It's not about rights. They pay lip service to rights. It's about power. The power to control your life their way.

Leftists are not Constitutionalists. They are Statists. They want to be in charge. Of everything.

Which keeps the cycle going.......the more people roll over for you, the more contemptable they become. Thus, you come up with crazy ideas that the stupid people love, keeping you in power and encouraging you not to change since you can keep even more stupid people under control with more power.

    I think Mark Twain said:
"I wouldn't want to belong to any club that would have me as a member."
