    1) SyFy? SyFy!? There's almost no gadgets in "Casino Royale". How are they justifying putting it on SyFy?

    2) Actually there's like, two gadgets: The tracking device and the defibrillator in the Aston and now that I think about it, they edited out the defibrillator scene.

    3) Speaking of edits, when I saw this in the theater, I don't remember LeChiffre ratting out the older agent. I remember Bond just putting 2&2 together and figuring out he was the mole. But since they clearly did some editing, was this an add-in for us slack-jawed TV viewers?

    4) Seeing it in the theater, I remember it going on about 20-30 minutes too long. Everything after Bond recuperating seemed anticlimactic. Tonight it was odd. The bit where he stops the guy in Miami (which was nowhere in the book, IIRC) seemed like a movie in and of itself, but once we got into the casino story, I actually liked the coda in Venice.

    5) They really need to dye Daniel Craig's hair black. He would be Bond with black hair. But as a blonde, I find myself going "Well, he looks sorta brunette in that light," and "Blonde. His hair is blonde." instead of "Bond. James Bond."

    6) Having rewatched "Casino Royale, and thinking on "Quantum of Solace," I'm more conviced than ever that they should full-on reboot and remake all the Fleming novels, only hewing more closely to the books.

They changed the name to SyFy because ever since the new boss has taken over there, she's been trying to distance the channel from science fiction. Don't ask me why she would've wante to take over the Sci Fi Channel, but that's what she did. That's also why there's wrestling on that channel.

For the same reason jazz festivals feature pop musicians - to expand their audience and stay afloat financially.

SyFy saw how successful MTV was in *not* showing music and decided to go that route.

I'd love to hit a powerball and BUY SyFy, and put it back the way it's supposed to be.

You best be bringing back Farscape if that happens.

Shit, if I bought SyFy, I'd bring back Farscape (even though I didn't like it) AND Firefly!

Speaking of Farscape, they finally released the complete series in a DVD set a few months ago. I'm in the process of rewatching it (the show, not the dvds) for probably the fifth or sixth time; great stuff. :D

Yup. I remember when Sci Fi was coming out. Geeks were like: "This is great! We'll get reruns of 'Dr. Who', old 'Star Treks', maybe even 'Space: 1999' and they'll show the 'Star Wars' trilogy all the time. "

    What a colossal disappointment. :(

Well, it didn't USED to be disappointing, when it had original magazine and science shows, and actual sci fi content.

Casino Royale just didn't work for me. Craig wasn't Bond to me, just a thug with a gun (I blame this on the writing, not on Daniel Craig, who's a good actor imo).

Give a new episode of Burn Notice (or even a re-run) over Casino Royale any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

I'm pretty sure I've said it here before, but they changed the name to 'SyFy' because you can't trademark the temr 'SciFi' and they needed a marketing name.

It had ceased to be a sci-fi channel long before it became the SyFy Channel. :bang:
