Check out this CNN footage of Ike hitting Cuba

Pay attention to how high the waves are breaking in relation to that four story building along the shore. I think it's the shore. There's too much flooding to tell. There's two or three really good shots of it, and a shot of storm surge coming into a building....or is it an alley?

The latest track has it coming in between Houston and Corpus Christi, around Port O'Connor/Victoria.

Which probably means I'll have a house full of in-laws this weekend like I did for Rita three years ago.

They say it's gonna slam into Texas as a category 4.

(I imagine well get major rain here, which would suck, I have plans to attend an outdoor fiesta on Sunday.)

If that hit NO, it could set back rebuilding by years. Some places might never recover. Even *more* people would just say "Fuck it" and give up. (Not to mention all the people who will just say "Fuck it" and refuse to evacuate a second time in a month.)

The latest predictions have it making landfall closer to Houston than Corpus Christi.
