Not to mention there are lots of stories of the church nudging boys/young men who they know to be troubled towards the priesthood under the idea that the vow of chastity will keep them from acting out their desires.
Disastrous, shameful shower of dickheads and criminals. The Catholic Church would be joke if this wasn't all so heinous. Of course, they still are a joke in relation to things like how they create saints. Loved th story of the woman John Paul II was supposed to have cured actually not being cured... where does that leave that 'process'?
Actually, that story is bogus. No one ever reported that the woman wasn't cured - they reported that its possible she didn't have parkinsons but instead a different neurological disorder, one that might be treatable. She hasn't relapsed. So while I can certainly make no claim on a 'miracle' occurring, the current story making the rounds in teh webs isn't accurate. If you are a pro-John Paul kinda guy you've got much bigger fish to fry - he also had a huge problem with pedophile priests that he did almost nothing to stop. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/03/29/world/main6343263.shtml
Well that was really only the top of mind example. The whole notion of 'making' saints through a x-step process of confirming miracles is like the plot of a bad novel. I find the idea that anyone can believe in it totally bonkers.
