you navy guys have some serious fire fighting training! I've heard about it from a few Navy guys. Obviously you can't do what I could do in land based aviation - just haul ass and let the crash & rescue experts handle it.
Fire aboard ship is about the most dangerous thing there is aside from a torpedo detonating under the keel. It's not just the heat and flames, it's the toxicity that ensues in enclosed spaces as well, and the proximity of explosives (ship's magazines) and fuel lines and such. My Dad and Grandad both were enlisted sailors, one during WWII and the other Vietnam. My Grandad was aboard Nevada when it took a kamikaze. Ask either one of them what they feared worst aboard ship, and their answers were the same, without hesitation: Fire.
and you have nowhere to go when out to sea to escape - damn I'm glad I was army and air force. My son-in-law and my wife's nephew are in the navy - not my cup of tea.
give me a break! The US Army is filled with thousands of members who are black and proud - that doesn't mean they aren't proud to serve or that it affects their job performance. He wasn't protesting against the army, he is just displaying empathy and unity with the protesters, and not even in a loud obvious way that would indeed reflect upon the army not getting political in uniform. But "kidnapped"? In the very same sentence you said he signed a contract! The guy chose to join - he wasn't drafted! Everyone in the military knows they may have to do things they don't agree with - welcome to the working world kid! When his contract is up he can get out. Also he is just an E-4 thus he's not an NCO yet meaning they can make mistakes (if he indeed did anything wrong as per army regulations) because they are relative rookies. But the government "owning him"? He took an oath and signed on the dotted line like every other black/white/asian etc. soldier.
still not seeing your point. I know you have a military in your country but maybe you don't know many military people.
Yaaaaah, and I'm sure Julia Davis, columnist for The Daily Beast, was in the room and witnessed this "shouting match" first hand.
1) She's citing the New Yorker article, you wankpuffin. 2) People inside the White House do still talk to the press, thank fuck.
Yeah... and I'm sure no journalist ever fell to exaggerating or telling an outright lie, especially when it has anything to do with Trump. You'll believe what you want, though, especially when it fits your narrative. And wankpuffin? I'm totally stealing that. You furriners have some of the best insults.
And now Colin Powell, 4 star general, former chair of the joint chiefs, former secy of State, Republican - has said that Trump is has drifted away from the constitution. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-52957113 @oldfella1962 , @Paladin whats your thoughts on yet another highly decorated US serviceman tearing strips of the current POTUS? Any pause for reflection that your guy maybe is the clown that we have been pointing out for the last few years??
I guess November 2020 we will all find out won't we? Not saying Powell is wrong BTW! I'm quite sure he is very knowledgeable about the Constitution. That said it's kind of surprising that you would use Powell as an example of keeping Trump in check when many on the left (and some on the right) were outraged when Powell allegedly lied to the U.N. about anthrax/weapons of mass destruction to convince the coalition of the willing to invade Iraq.
In November 2020 we will find out what you are thinking today? That's a very interesting admission. Powell has made it very clear that he was lied to by the Bush-2 admin, and that he is equally outraged.
And Trump has now fired Esper. https://apnews.com/article/election...s-mark-esper-58adf1d272afe333562c54daba541e84
Firing the guy that was willing to push back on using the military to attack civilians for political gain?
They'll never answer a question like this, because Trump has been outright saying to crowds for years that this is the type of person he is, and they are smart enough to have recognised that long ago.
