    2 minute trailer.
    Airdate is February 11th.

Ehhh...I'll be honest, I'm intrigued, but not excited.

Plus...the issues Tereun raises are something I hope they address and fix, like they did with Mason's lesbian sister in the Hannibal series.

Also...I hope they only do the "Lambs" flashbacks in the pilot and move on, but I have a glum feeling they're gonna wallow in it all season.

So really it is Clarice SVU or perhaps Clarice Criminal Intent. Or more probably Criminal Minds the Clarice years? Or perhaps NCIS with Clarice? Or CSI DC.

How many of these fucking shows are there now? We already have 2000t seasons of Liv fighting her way up the male dominated ladder of the NY SVU to prove herself worthy of being captain while raising the adopted child of some killer she was tortured by. What more could Clarice actually do that has not been done in 8 billion seasons of Law and Order and it's spin offs? Every episode of Clarice should be titled Liv did it first. Liv is the fucking bart simpson of serial killer detective women. She already did it.

Maybe they could cross genres and have Clarice lead a rag tag bunch of zombie survivalists who eventually have to worry about undead eating them and the forces of hannibal eating them while he wields a bat named after her? Then he could kill glen and eat him right in front of her like ray liota.

I have an idea for CBS all access. It is about a super intelligent chinese architect named domicile who has to detect structural flaws in shoddy chinese building construction before the building collapses and kills everyone. He is rude and obnoxious and the only guy who will work with him is his best friend sidkick named Wangson. He does drugs, young asian girls, and lots of chinese hookers.

    Where is my fucking money.

Didn't do much for me. Not at all interested in seeing Clarice overcoming a toxic workplace or battling sexism; bring on an interesting serial killer and let her chase after him.
IMHO no one makes a series based on The Silence of the Lambs without planning to bring Lector into it at some point. I wonder who'll play the role this time? (I suddenly flashed on Jude Law...)

I watched TSotL last week; it remains one of my favorite movies of all time.

    They legally can't use Hannibal.
Notice they don't even say his name.
Anyone who's in "Red Dragon", they can't use.
So the flashbacks are all Buffalo Bob, Buffalo, Bob, Buffalo Bob.

How can they use Clarice and not the other names? That sounds a little bit strange. I would think to do such a similar story you would have to have some rights to the original intellectual property. That does sort of sound like a rumor that was not well thought out. It is like me making a clone of star wars and changing Han to Hon and vader to vador, but the series is called Luke and the main character is luke skywalker. I am pretty sure Disney would be coming for me.

I am going to have to look into getting my client Cardi W. to record WAV this week.

It's how the De Laurentis's finagled having the rights to "Red Dragon" "Hannibal" and "Hannibal Rising" while MGM clung to "Silence" with a death grip.

It's kind of the Sony Spider-Man of the Hannibal-verse.
Except MGM and the De Laurentis's haven't cut a deal.
Maybe if the Koreans hack the De Laurentis's.

    It is, but it's real.
    You can look it up.

Flawed in concept, perhaps, but still better than Discovery.

Take my $9.99, damn it. I don't like commercials.

'Clarice' casts Jen Richards as trans character who will discuss Buffalo Bill's 'complicated legacy'
Transgender advocate and actress Jen Richards was cast in the "Silence of the Lambs" spinoff after first being hired to consult on the CBS show.

    https://www.nbcnews.com/feature/nbc...s-character-who-will-discuss-buffalo-n1256477

“All I can say is that the character intersects with Clarice’s storyline in a way that her transness isn’t central to her storyline, but her identity as a trans woman prompts her to discuss with Clarice the complicated legacy of Buffalo Bill,” Richards said during a virtual premiere event for “Clarice” on Monday night.

Richards initially thought she was just going to help the writers and producers “craft the character and make sure some younger, prettier trans actress had a good experience on set,” she admitted, but she ended up cast in the role she helped shape.

Yes the guy who created a racist stereotype “black” transformer and a Transformer with dangling “balls”in the same movie surely is the pantheon for LGBTQ activism.:dayton: They could de-age Jodi Foster and cast her as Clarice and wouldn’t matter because anything Kurtzman touches turns to shit. He’s a hack writer. Period.

Thgey should have just tried to merge Clarice into Criminal Minds as a character with an already written backstory. You are correct, this is hackery at it's greatest. It is nothing like basing a story around a cute and powerful alien who ends up helping a gritty bounty hunter or a buddy cop show.

Late with my review of the pilot..

    So....mixed emotions.
Yes, it is your usual police procedural but in the Harris-verse; BUT the modern edgy police procedural steals like crazy from Lambs, so it's a feedback loop.

Jen Richards's character hasn't shown up yet.
Was kinda hoping to see her right up front in the first episode.
But, it looks like they're going for a slow burn on...everything.

The arc they've set up of a mysterious puppet-master big-bad has me intrigued.

I'll give it the rest of the season to see it play out.

Not blown away so far, but not disappointed either.

I would imagine it is watchable. Even Criminal Minds is sort of watchable.

I am a law and order fan. I watched and loved the original. I watched and loved SVU. I really like Criminal intent with VD, could tolerate it with the law and order guy, and could not stand the goldblum version. I liked the characters, and the way they produce the daily episodes. I like what they did with the season and character arc plots. CSI was good but not law and order. Then there was all the other ones which I never got into. I could watch an episode here and there but the character drama became too all important. I do not really want those shows to be serieals that I have to watch in order. \

LaO Criminal intent had this one female villain that was the nemesis of VD's character. you could get the episodes in random order with the repetition and still put together that plot. They had a way of showing she was the big bad with him acting against her in a really dramatic way that also had an episodic drama that you could get into if you just saw that one episode. When you needed to understand a LaO character they had exposition and character conversation to explain it for the episode. I do not want to have to see every episode in a row to understand what is going on in my criminal of the week cop drama.

Ok, that is your business. As far as I know brad has not fucked any kids, and he puts out entertaining shit. Seems a bit petty to me, but I hope you never know anyone who knew a person who was a friend of a pedophile once because that is a pretty high standard. Do we know you aren't associating with any people who are associating with pedophiles right now? I hope you accused all your friends and vetted everyone, because if not you got some work to be doing.

Well, last night's episode was woke-ety-woke-woke about Clarice getting to become a superstar, while her black roommate who's just as smart gets to work in a supply closet.
Don't watch, FF, you'll hate it.
Cuz, y'know, it tells the truth, and that pisses you right off.

    Ah! Finally!
Jen Richards finally showed up...in the second to last fucking episode!
    Christ!
And I'm already wishing the Jen Richards and Ardelia subplots had been through the whole season.
    I don't give a shit about glasses guy's white-slavery sister.
They dangled that, and it went nowhere, and it wasted half an episode.
Now I gotta twiddle my thumbs hoping they get renewed so they can do the good shit, cuz they paced the first 6 episodes so badly.
Good show, but bad time management for the first season.

    Okay, I'll amend that.
It's not bad time management if they planned on a 15-20 episode season, and covid fucked it up.
    Gotta factor that in.

    Huh?

My understanding is that Richards had a 3 episodes arc.

Also, she's a consultant on the show and wrote much of her own "about Buffalo Bill..." dialogue.

Ah, the season is 11 episodes, not 10.
    Ehh...still pretty short.

Edit- Oh, for chrissakes, they're taking another 3 week break for the last two.

apparently money issues have this show on life support for another season.

Something about one side won't pay what the other wants or some shit.

Anyway, that three episode arc (it's actually a longer thread, but three with Richards in them) was the shit.
On the whole, this isn't the kind of series i get invested in but that was damn well done.

    *Finally watches it*
*Sigh* this is why persona critics don't do it for me anymore.
They have to crank up the sneer to make it funny, but then it's not a fair review anymore.
All of those criticisms apply to the pilot, because every show has to find its legs, but its gotten better as the arc unfolds.
And as Nova said, the Jen Richards stuff was the shit.
Hopefully, we get more of her in season 2.
