Anybody else get this game? I've been having a good time with it the past few days, but I crave some multiplayer action that doesn't involve the retards on Gamespy. If you've played the other C&C games this one is definatly another winner.

How does it compare to C&C: Generals?

Similar, but different. I like to think of Red Alertseries and Generals as kinda seperate games. Each game has its own quirk. I'm pretty sure there is a free demo on C&C.com

Downloading the demo atm. If it runs okay on my machine I might get it.

However I play games at 1650x1050 and I require near-max quality. If I can't run at that, I'll probably hold off until I upgrade my PC. (and by the time I do that, I might have lost interest).

I still think the Red Alert series were the best of the C&Cs. I'm plowing through the GDI campaign too now. The cinematics are awesome. they got some actual actors this time to play the people in the game.

You past the first mission of Act III yet, Dan? The one where you have to defend the low-powered base for five minutes, which I can manage, but then also have to organize an escort trip up to rescue your own damn reinforcements, which I can't?

I figured you could just deploy the MCV right where you rescue it, but there aren't any tib fields in that region and maintaining a defence of the base and the MCV at the same time is proving a nightmare even on Easy (too many Nod fanatics, grr!! ).

What I did was this: (I'm going from memory so if I skip a step, sorry)

First, of course, repair everything and get a second harvester asap.

On the SW corner of the base, turn off the anti infantry turrets and build as many riflemen squads as you can and dig them in. (I also supported them with some APCS) That'll stop most infantry attacks, so you can concentrate on the NE tank base. I just spammed as many predators as I could and found the base fall really quickly when they pissed me off. (I think about 10 predators built up over the mission did it real quick)

After that, I used the same spammed army plus a new group of APCs loaded with both grenadiers and rocket soldiers to the SW corner and took out the base plus all the garrisoned structures.

Though, to be honest, on my first playthrough, I just rushed that damn mcv down to the base, bonus objective be damned. It survived with the tiniest sliver of health and I repaired it just in time. Mostly thanks to a brave APC crew that stood in the way of that last fanatic squad. He'll always be remembered. :enty:

Oh, and I just beat the Nod campaign. All I have to say about that final FMV is
