Faye's outfit in the anime is really just fanservice. Trying to pretend she did it to put people off guard is mysogenistic excuses. The reason why she was dressed that way was to make waifu pillows and posters to jerk off to. No one making cowboy bebop was saying she should be overly sexualized because that is how she captures bad guys. Why is the woman in the bounty hunter show not wearing a bra and just has a vest covering her nipples? If you watch Bebop there are a few moments where it is just so obvious faye is there to jiggle her boobs. They also sort of play her off as an obnoxious diva a few times. Seriously, how the fuck are you going to sneak up on a bounty in that get up?
Glad they finally brought back Firefly. Weird choice to cast John Cho as Mal. What's next, they're gonna have a Corgi play Jayne?
There's going to be novels, comics, and a making of book. https://www.darkhorizons.com/netflixs-cowboy-bebop-sets-tie-in-works/
YOU RUINED MY EARLY ADULTHOOD! Ok, must calm down. I do not have to watch it. I have my DVDs and digital copies of the original. This was always going to happen because CN and AS always pull this shit. I knew it would never end with the destruction of dragonbvall, and they were always eying Bebop for this bullshit. I really did not mind an american live action cash in, but the series has comic books. They are called Manga. bebop is the most perfectly american series ever. Americans cannot americanize this shit anymore than it's actual creators.
I know what that is without even watching. However, decades later Netflix decided to take another classic shoujo anime and sell it to Saban. Saban took precure and turned it into glitterforce for Netflix. That is not to mention what Saban did to Cat Ninden back in the day. I want to like Netflix because they did release a decent version of CCS, but then they do crazy shit like this and redubbing evangelion. Make your time netflix, and set us up the bebop bomb. May live action bebop be as good as live action dragonball to the power of live action avatar.
OK, I guess I overreact. They are not changing the original bebop. Thank you for reminding me of actual horrors like bad dubbing @Diacanu . The original is still there. I am going to say I do not think anything good can come from taking away imagination from certain things that were meant to be vague and imagined. It is like how han solo doing the kessel run (sp) was always something you imagined, and seeing it was never going to do it justice. It is the same thing with Spike and vicious. You do not need to show the adventures of spike and julia. This is really going back to what was awesome about bebop. It was enclosed. It did not need to be more. You want more, and I always wanted more. but you are going to just drag parts of it down. When you look at bebop Spike, Faye, and Jet are all ghosts. It has this depth to it. They have all been expelled to the fringe of existence. They all were once a part of things, but now they just pick up bounties and are on the outside. When they come back in they die or get hurt. Spike is forced back into the world because he is the only one who can take down vicious, and it rips him from Jet and Faye. Ed is sort of this transient viewer who got to see this group that had to stay on the outside for a number of reasons. Jet was tired of the corruption, faye was forced out because of her debt, and Spike was primarily a ghost because of the syndicate. You might be able to add to their backstories in a sort of episodic way, but you have to leave a lot to the fans IMO. When you create characters like this out of some cool legendary history you have to leave it to the individual to imagine what was cool and awesome. It is one of the reasons why I appreciate the original Orion dubbing of Akira over the actual more correct remastered dub, or even the japanese sup. Whoever dubbed Akira back then actually added something to it. It may be just for american culture as the japanese may have seen their akira differently. That Campy Orion dub left more to the viewer to reach their own conclusions rather than have it spelled out as much which defined what should have been open for the audience. I love bebop because it does have depth in many areas of spiritualization and philosophy. Some people compare it to Outlaw Star and bebop was lightyears ahead of outlaw star in that it did not have to have magical caster shells and galactic leylines. Bebop presented those sorts of things to the audience as more of the dust in the spiritualistic winds of multiple cultures. Those things were present in the episodes, but they did not overwhelm the audience. Even the method of fast travel was artistic and symbolic. Bebop is awesome on so many deeper levels than just some outer space cowboy shoot em up. I guess it comes down to write something new and don't do an evangelion with it. bebop does what it does and it does it great. Sometimes you just let the masterpiece sit there and have people get what they can out of it. Go on to something new and leave the fans forever wanting. Wanting is not horrible. It often means you got something awesome. Like many of it's fans I really love bebop.
The kid from Discovery could play that part very well. She just needs to add a bit of eccentrism to her acting and bam, it Edward.
1. Am I the only person to notice that the thread title is wrong? 2. Cho's hair was really important.
Opening titles. Looks like they kinda did Sin City style effects on it. Dunno if the whole show is gonna be Sin City-y, or if it'll be straight live-action.
I love the decision to keep "Tank!" You can't top perfection. The opening titles look nice, everything seems smoothly done, and well rendered. Spike, Jet, and Faye all look like they "should," and I'm really curious to see how this all works out because so far I am hyped for it.
Now I am interested. That was a slick trailer and it looked like it kept true to the original. If they did that with the rest of the story I am going to love it.
If you had to cut a character for adult purposes and to keep the serious nature of an adult live action show you would cut ed. Ed is a loved character, but is almost completely superfluous to the show. She comes in on episode 5 and leaves before the climax. Her arc is almost completely separate from everyone elses, and in any instance she pushes the plot along you give it to someone else. You could easily hand off the hacking to someone else, or EIN. Personally I would not chose to cut one of the most beloved of the cast, but if you are going for something to draw in non-anime fans you cut the spasmatic, silly, comic relief the normies won't like. Even the anime does not have her in some episodes after she is introduced and before she leaves. Even when she leaves none of the characters realize it until later.
You could start the series, add some new episodes, then push ed's introduction into a second season once you have captured people. The episodes are mostly enclosed plots with little reference to the ones before or after it. The real character development occurs in the climax episodes anyway. Ed is going to be somewhat of a problem for the prude snowflakes of america. Really, ed is a kid who pushes her way onto a space ship with a bunch of criminal adults. She eats a alien space pudding, plays around with trippy mushrooms, is groomed by some old man chess player living in a colony of old criminals, does criminal activity, is gender non-binary (Which just causes meltdowns), and if they cannot get faye's outfit onto the show because women's skin causes the american taliban to have fits, how are they going to explain a boyish girl in bike shorts that tends to spread her legs a lot.
The moving frames are entertaining, but, I think it detracts from the story. Not sure if I like it or not.
