Buttigieg isn't married. Marriages are between one man and one woman. Gay "marriages" are a "marriage" in the same way that Monopoly money is legal tender.
You'd better 'splain that to Your Boy Donnie. According to him, marriage is between one man and one woman, and then another woman, and then another woman, with a spate of beauty contestants and escorts in between.
Indeed it is. Additionally, even if you say that marriage laws should reflect those seen in the Bible, the one man one woman bit doesn't fit. There are heaps of folks in the Bible who had multiple wives (not to mention concubines). Yet I doubt that many folks opposed to gay marriage (outside parts of Utah) would approve of a man having multiple wives. And I would also like to point out that inheritance laws in the US are vastly different than those in the Bible, yet I don't hear of anyone calling them "unnatural" or whatever.
You know full well I've frequently condemned Donald Trumps personal life including his multiple marriages.
There's nothing in the New Testament which specifically prohibits a man from having more than one wife, however. And some would argue that this statement by Jesus means OT laws still apply. For those too lazy to click the link, here's a quote of one interpretation (the link gives others) of that statement: So, if you're going to claim that the OT version of marriage is invalid, you're going to have to explain why this is the case. I await your answer.
The "purpose of the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets" had nothing to do with marriage but was to prepare the way for Jesus.
You mean this? Well, Mr. Jesus Doesn't Say What to Do After You Turn the Other Cheek So Violence Isn't Out of the Question, nothing in those verses says, or even implies, that a man may only have one wife. It's just discussing how he should behave with each individual wife.
You know, there are at least two other, active, threads for people to let Dayton wind them up on marriage in.
Of course. I've made this point repeatedly. Though just as we study the Justinian Code for obvious historical reasons today though it isn't binding law, studying the Old Testament is still useful.
But he doesn't rule out the possibilities of others. Just like you don't rule out the possibility of a violent response after turning your cheek.
*sigh* Jesus says a married man who looks at another woman with desire commits adultery in his heart. So unless you get married to all of them at the same time . . .
Kicking a bowling ball hurts. Kicking @Dayton3 's ass is like putting your foot into the most comfortable sock ever. Dayton would kick his own ass if he had feet.
You realize this is exactly what he wants right? He is as worthless and as useless in real life as he his here. He has no friends, none of his colleagues respect him, none of his students (see how he has to use the rules to try and ‘get’ them). He is a complete nobody with zero control over the reality he lives in. He bounces through life like he bounces through jobs and towns, leaving little impact and little thought when gone. But here... Here he CAN actually effect this world. He can derail threads, he can get the same dupes to type out the same arguments again, and again and AGAIN. This is the closest he has ever come and will ever come to actual power. And y’all keep feeding him. All that to say, can you please confine letting him manipulate you to one of the other two threads on this topic? Just ignore him here and copy his post and your reply (‘kicking him’ if you will, LOL) in the other threads and leave us all alone. We are on the second page of this derail already. Seriously, please.
This is what Dayton has done forever. Nothing has changed. everyone around kicks him while he is here. You know he does it on purpose, and has no other purpose or reason to be around because you clearly just stated it. Are we getting special red room rules to not insult Dayton again? If not he obviously is here for a reason and since there is no other purpose to the idiocy aside from a response I guess I do not understand the problem. I have been told that Dayton disrupting the red room is not an offense? You might want to check with some other people if that is not the case.
