Actually, no. A large portion of WF disagrees with much of what he says, which is true, but not everyone does and quite a few of us don't disagree with everything Rick says, by any means. Furthermore, and most importantly, disagreeing with someone does not mean hating them, for most of us. There are a small group of you who do everything you can to bully those with whom you disagree (a rather futile exercise on internet...), but that says much, much more about you than it does about those you insult. Speak for yourselves, but do not pretend to speak for all of Wordforge. Many of us, even many of us who are fairly conservative, do not approve of your behavior and do not want you claiming to represent us in the things you do and say.
There is some truth to the fact that GR was blown away by the s/fx in the original Star Wars and decided a first Trek movie would have to equal or surpass them. Apparently no one was supposed to notice that the script was just a reworking of "The Changeling." Thing is, people noticed. Which is why it was sheer miracle that TWOK ever got made, on a MOW budget, but with ILM as consultants so the studio didn't have to reinvent the wheel in terms of s/fx from then on.

Came time to do the scene where Kirk kicks Kruge off the ledge into the molten lava below. How to create a molten lava effect on the cheap? First they bought a sheet of plate glass. Then they went to a pharmaceutical supply house and bought several very large tubs of Vaseline. Smear the Vaseline on the plate glass, light it from below with a few red can lights, and you've got a field of molten lava. Rodis said the look on the cashier's face when he paid for the Vaseline was priceless.
