To rework Rick Deckard (no, the character in Blade Runner): "I was bought in when I came in here. I'm twice as bought in now."
I didn't realize or I had forgot that Pierce Brosnan was in this and is playing Dr. Fate and I didn't know Hawkman was going to be in this. Now I'm excited for this.
Yeah, Black Adam is the title, but it's really a secret Justice Society movie. Just like Flash is the title of Flash, but it's really DC's Multiverse Of Madness.
Y'know, DC has a pretty damned good lineup coming. I don't see any duds here. If The Batman, Flash, and Black Adam all land, and I'm pretty sure they will....DC will actually kick Marvel's ass in 2022 . For the first time ever!
Oh, and there was an Aquaman 2 trailer too, but the audio is broken, and I'm waiting for an un-broken copy to come out.
Pay Cavil to come back and get Patterson on board with JL2, then add GL, Hawkman, Dr. Fate and Shazam. That’s how you kick Marvel’s ass.
Eh...I would say that DC generally had better movies than Marvel prior to the MCU, and Batman Begins/Dark Knight are probably as good as or better than any MCU movie. I would definitely hesitate before thinking that even the best versions of The Batman, Flash and Black Adam will be kicking the ass of sequels to pretty well proven commodities of Thor, Black Panther and Dr. Strange, with at least two of those movies done by people who have a proven track record. Match, sure. While people's mileage will vary, the only DC movies released in the MCU era that I'd say are arguably as good as the average MCU movies would be Wonder Woman, The Suicide Squad, Shazam and Aquaman. And I don't think any of them can carry the jock of the best movies like Infinity War/Endgame/Winter Soldier.
All films to date considered, while Marvel's batting average and sheer quantity are better, DC has the best and most iconic films. If I could save only one, there's no way I'd sacrifice Superman: The Movie for any Marvel film, nor would I choose any Marvel film over The Dark Knight. My top-rated Marvel films (oddly, neither is from the MCU) would be Logan and Raimi's Spider-Man 2.
I like that you think no experience is necessary to hook up with Jon Kent, but you're fooling yourself. He's never gonna pick you.
I will admit I am not a huge comic book geek. What is Black Adam and why should I as person who enjoys these movies be excited? Yes, I like the rock, and yest the opening looks killer. Is he a hero or what? Things I am worried about. I actually like the rock being the rock. I am not opposed to him doing something different like Hugh Jackman in The Fountain. But what I love about the rock is him being him in a different environment. I just think it would be a waste for the rock to be a villain that is just silent and huge like he was when he played the scorpion king in the mummy movies. I really like him more as a swashbuckling tough guy. I am not tying to be pretentious, I understand there is a story there I do not know about.
Short version- Black Adam = evil Shazam. Shazam = Superman, except his powers come from magic. So, by transitive property, Black Adam is evil magic Superman. And no, Black Adam isn't a silent villain, he speechifies in the comics. They're probably gonna morph him into an anti-hero like Deadpool, or Harley Quinn, or Magneto.
Black Adam has already had some attempts in the comics at anti-hero stuff. He got a new wife - Adrianna Tomaz - for a while who, together with her younger brother, he bestowed his powers (in her case, via the Amulet of Isis that used to belong to his first wife who was also empowered by the wizard Shazam). His wife was beloved of the nation he rules and inspired him to heroics, but the various factions conspired to kill her and her brother, which kicked Adam off into a brutal rampage against those he thought responsible (who were set up). She was based on the TV character from the 70s show The Secrets of Isis (which was linked to Shazam! even then). Issues with having the character associated with the IRL organisation of the same name abounded, naturally.
It would be awesome to have either a Justice League or a team-up movie where Superman and Black Adam are good cop/bad cop buddies.
I remember when they were casting Abrams Trek and the more woke members of TBBS kept insisting that "the best actor for the job" needed to get the role of Kirk, and the ability to vaguely resemble young William Shatner was completely irrelevant to the job. "If the most convincing Kirk actor is a black female amputee then she should get the part, end of story!" You weren't really on my radar back then, but I assume that was your stance as well since you hate box-checking so much?
Brendon Fraser will be the villain in "Batgirl". (Ricky from Superman 3) You can be great again, Robotman! You're just a slump! () https://www.darkhorizons.com/brendan-fraser-to-play-batgirl-villain/
And, geez, has Fraser ever been in a slump in the last decade. Nice to see things turning around. I saw this picture...he looks like he had a hair transplant once upon a time and all the non-transplanted hairs have fallen out. Not raggin' on the guy, just sayin'.
