Teagan Croft is live-action Raven, and Anna Diop is live-action Starfire. A black Starfire!? Damn this race swapping!! She's ORANGE!! Couldn't they find an orange actress to play her!? Orange-washing!!!! () (Seriously though, I'm sure they'll paint her up like Gamora)
If she's painted right, Anna Diop does kinda look like Perez's Starfire. Croft isn't how I picture Raven, but I did see a picture of her with a dark expression that looked good, so maybe.
I play too much DCUO to think about Raven non-sexually, yet oddly Starfire doesn't grab me the same way. Maybe it's the whole "if you can have it, there's no fantasy" thing?
Just finished watching "Crisis On Earth X". Y'know? That was better than "Justice League". And it had WAY more characters to manage, and cost a million bucks an episode. Maybe a little more, but not much more. See, DC? You don't have to spend 300 million fucking dollars to tell a good superhero story.
and they leaned fully into the comic book silliness. I have a whole string of nitpicks about those shows but they do a vastly better job with "live action DC" than the movies do.
Because the TV shows have embraced the sense of fun that should be there, while the movies have largely jettisoned it.
did you watch anything other than the first season? It got MUCH better there after. Sure, it's bonkers as shit...but goofy, fun, comic-book bonkers not dark acid-trip fucked up bonkers like Gotham.
Also, Legionaries on Supergirl (which, given Mon-El had been on the show would have been bullshit not to bring up at some point but still...) I get a LITTLE frustrated because, despite several reworkings of their continuity I'm still a nerd-girl for basic core elements and it bugs me that they unnecessarily re-write some of it (for example: -el is a family name from Krypton. Kal-El, Jor-El, Zor-El and so forth...so how is it that a Daxamite from another planet shows up and he's named...Mon-El? I know why it's that way in the comics but on the show he arrives with the name and even his parents use it (despite themselves not being -El's) But still, since I assume I'll never see a legit Legion series, I geek out over whatever little drips and drabs i can get.
I tried the first three or so episodes of season two, after I had already given up on season one by episode seven or so. The acting and dialogue seemes horrendous. But I will give it yet another try.
oh it sure as hell ain't The Wire or anything it's just goofy fun. It's sorta like, I guess, any other show that doesn't take itself too seriously (say, The Orville for instance)...if the humor doesn't "work" for you (as it typically does not for me on The Orville) then the other aspects of the show may not hold up well enough for you to enjoy it. I'm not saying "OMG you fool!" here...just saying that the first season isn't much of a representation of the ones that came after.
Krypton trailer. The Comic-con one WB ripped down was way better. Dunno why they don't just release that one.
they say that Black Lightning will not crossover with the other CWDC shows....good. Because it's an altogether different type of show, and at least for the pilot, very well done. There's some commonality with the first season of Arrow, in that there's a lot of anger but..it just has a different feel. I really liked it. (and I wasn't expecting to)
y'all if you are not digging Neal McDonugh chewing the scenery as Damian Darhk on Legends of Tomorrow you are SO missing out. If you like your super-villains to ham it up this dude is serving up the whole fucking hog. This may be the single best comic-book villain performance I've ever seen. that said, youtubers SUCK because apparently no one has collected his funniest bits which is a video crying to be made.
Constantine is going to be a Legends regular next season. https://www.cbr.com/legends-of-tomorrow-matt-ryan-constantine-series-regular/ Way back at the end of season 1, they said he'd join in season 2, so this has been in the planning for awhile.
Liked it pretty well, liked the accent gimmick, thought the RaoPope's mask was very cool (wondering already if that isn't an android possibly under the control of Brainiac) - it didn't blow my mind but it was enough to bring me back next week.
