On the contrary. It's by no means a direct entry into the Donnerverse, but it does several things with the memory of it that are very nice and respectful.
So @k I’m quite impressed so far. Much less shallow than the Snyder stuff or Smallville and - added bonus - I never knew it was a British/Irish production! It’s hardly the best tv show, but it’s done enough to give it a chance.
Titans set pics. Hmm...Raven looks like Raven, but Starfire isn't orange, and Beast Boy isn't green. Thought for sure they'd be painted up. Ah, well, I'll shrug it off and go with it if the show's good.
Maybe hair is trickier to make look good? Also much cheaper than X hours covering all the skin in the makeup chair each morning.
Hmm, maybe in the story, they use holographic disguises to look human? They did that for Nightcrawler in the "X-Men Evolution", cartoon.
Given that over 10 years ago they could alter a live performance of someone to make them look healthy, I'm sure that it's one of those things that they decide should be better done in post-production.
Yeah, if it's a straight palette swap and no prosthetics, it's probably better to use post-SFX to alter skin colour than actual body paint - actors have quit due to having to suffer through that and it also needs a lot of work to ensure it's consistent between takes. As said, SFX hair always looks bogus so the dye there makes sense (and lasts longer).
Beast Boy? Eh....no...maybe...sortof. Starfire? No. Just...no. Raven? Okay, I can see that. Robin? Seems about right.
Re: Titan photos. Aaaand, the trolls were their usual shitty selves. https://www.cbr.com/titans-anna-diop-starfire-set-photo-response/
I'm really feeling Krypton. They are certainly keeping the plot moving -- this week was the fourth episode, which could easily have been another show's season finale. I can't predict what happens next, and yet it makes sense in retrospect, and the detailed intrigue among the various factions on Krypton is nicely done. Does anyone know whether this is supposed to be part of the Arrow/Flashverse?
Would have to be an Earth-? series or part of Supergirl if so, since the Earth-1 of the CW shows (Barry and Ollie's universe) doesn't have the Big Blue Boyscout.
as currently described, no. Also, the aesthetic is much darker so it seems most unlikely it's ever going to be
The DC streaming service is going to have a live-action Swamp Thing series. It had better cross over with Legends. And they'd better do "The Anatomy Lesson".
Gotham has been renewed for season 5, but it's going to be the end. Since they know ahead of time this time, instead of being on a bubble, they're going to wrap it up, and have Bruce Become Batman at the end.
The next big CW crossover is going to introduce Gotham City, and Batwoman. The ginger lesbian one, not Barbara Gordon.
Barbara Gordon was never Batwoman, she was always Batgirl. IIRC, Batwoman was Kathy Kane before she was the ginger lesbian.
Okay, that's really spreading the mythology pretty thin. A Batman tie-in series that carries little possibility of the Batman mythology appearing. What's next? Perry White, Ace Reporter? The Lives and Loves of Etta Candy? Carol Ferris: Poor Little Rich Girl? Henry Allen, M.D.? I suppose any of these could be good--anything can be good if done well--but I fear this is going to dilute the already over-stretched audience for these things.
Alfred actually has a pretty bad-ass backstory, tho. Kinda along the lines of Agent Carter from Marvel.
