Getting rid of guns worked for the UK too.

But keep ignoring the "it works for the rest of the planet!!" stuff and pretending America is somehow different, like y'all do with healthcare.

Were there 400+ million guns in either Australia, the UK or both combined? No. Should you both take turns gagging on the same bag of dicks for dusting off that tired old talking point? Yes.

Either you are committing to kicking in every fucking door for confiscation, or you are posturing with a "solution" you know stands no chance.

You're arguing against a straw man position that isn't being put forward.

As you correctly point out, the US has a lot of guns right now, and no practical laws could get rid of them all and there will probably always be a black market of some sort.

However, the evidence from the whole planet is that when it is harder to obtain firearms legally, less people obtain them.

By acknowledging the vast numbers out there already, you concede that the "harder to obtain " ship has long since sailed.

You can't get rid of all the guns, so we have to make and sell more guns you can't get rid of.

Actually, you can get rid of all the guns.
    It just takes brutal authoritarianism.
The kind of brutal authoritarianism the paranoids have a daydream hardon over.
If anyone was going to be that brutal authoritarian, it would have been Obama.
He gave a sad speech, and cried.
Do you see the logic problem?
The fantasy that justifies the guns in the first place is never fucking coming, and saying you can't get rid of all the guns admits this.
You're basically owning up to "yeah, we're too fucking crazy, and you're too nice".

I don't need to justify retaining my property. YOU need to justify seizing it. That is not accomplished by citing the actions of other people, and the moment you try, you concede defeat by admitting you know the problem lies elsewhere.

    Seen any lawn darts lately?
The lawn dart people didn't have an NRA to brainwash people with screechy catchphrases.
    Only difference.

There wasn't one. They were recalled, and everyone willingly got rid of them.
Again, because no NRA for lawn darts.

"Willingly." You don't seem willing to rely on consent when it comes to firearms. Any more than you are able to conceive of someone valuing their right to their own damn property without an acronym organization selling them on the notion. Everyone who holds opinions you don't like is just a mindless dupe, unable to think for themselves. Arrogant, disingenuous fucking bullshitter. Go fuck yourself.

The only correct answer I would have accepted was "...I'm sorry I didn't save you, little lawn dart. I'm sorry..I had one chance in my life to be a real hero..and I blew it.....I'm a bum and a palooka...ehh hehh hehhh!! :sob:".

I concede no such thing, and again, your assertion it's impossible to make a difference goes against the lived experience of most of the western world.

Here's a couple stories that contrast each other, but stick with it, I'm making a point.

    Story 1.
A guy on a motorcycle accidentally ran over and killed a little girl, and he cried, puked, said "I'm sorry" 50 times or so, pulled a gun out of the side-trunk thingy on his bike, and blew his brains out. Happened round these parts if I recall.

    Story 2.
    Also a local tale.
Big semi-retarded guy about 6 foot 6, used to wander around the neighborhood shoveling driveways in winter, and leaf blowing lawns in summer.
Lugged his shovel for the former, the leaf blower for the latter.
He was big and stocky, and strong, and neither weighed him down or tired him.
One winter, he turns up dead.
Snow plow guy hit and run him.
There's no way he didn't see a guy that big.
He did that shit on purpose.
Somewhere, there's an anonymous psychopathic homicidal plow guy out there.
There's some fucking nightmare fuel for ya.

Now, if you killed Breonna Taylor, would you be motorcycle guy, or plow guy?
    Me, I'd be motorcycle guy.
This cop is obviously plow guy.
Hey, I don't ask for him to kill himself (although, it would be nice if he tried) but uh....maybe not be a cop anymore?
    Is that a big ask?
    Apparently so.
