    I think there's a cultural aspect to it that most westerners don't appreciate. This war is a huge deal to the Islamists. First of all, they can't tolerate an infidel army on their land. Additionally, this is a group of people that still talk about the Crusades like Americans talk about WWII. Have a christian army in their territory brings to mind glorious memories of Saladin and the early power of Islam. The chance to directly engage an American force is just too good to pass up.

    Shame they can't bring that glory back with intellectualism, and learning, and artistry, and craftmanship.

    It's like their whole culture has decayed into one big VT shooter.

    Yeah, having an enemy army on their land upsets them so much, they actually resort to violence to drive it out. It's a cultural thing.

    Wouldn't it be really fucking difficult to get to the fuel tanks? I mean, one would hope that those are under some pretty heavy security, if only for the capacity for explosions, let alone the economy.

    Don't be dense. I said "Islamists" not "Iraqis". The non-tolerance of specifically infidels in the ME is most certainly a cultural thing.

    Nobody remembers terror plots stopped in non-election years, and if one happens to get stopped in an election year the conspiracy nuts say or imply it's just a hoax or greatly exagerated to make Bush look better.
