This isn't a very good argument. @gturner is often a hot mess in arguments and gets dominated and defeated and just runs away or starts making up even more shit that has nothing to do with anything. There's a lot wrong with this, IMO. Responding to the question about whether he got banned with "no" and letting people go through the exercise of troubleshooting, while knowing perfectly well what's going on, before finally admitting that he's locked in the Violet Room, is also not exactly transparent. One person can't derail a thread. Something like half this board has been banned from TBBS. That's not exactly a useful standard to go by. That's not how the Violet Room was described. It was described as: "There is a new forum on Wordforge, and it's called The Violet Room. Personal call-out threads, threads dealing with a specific poster in an antagonistic way, anything like that, goes into The Violet Room." That's very different from "a place to box up somebody who's annoying us."
Was that the sequence? I don't fully remember, it was quite a while ago. There have always been racist, xenophobic, homophobic threads at wordforge with a healthy dose of out and out nonsense. But the guy has made almost 19,000 of those type in only 2 years. C'mon, it fills the RR day after day, pushing every other thread and topic to oblivion. He can be smart and funny and I don't even believe that he believes a 10th of it, but he's so prolific and relentless, that he must be contained. It might tickle the crap out of him, but tt messes up the experience for everyone else.

I just scroll past the majority of his posts when it's obvious he's dropping the copy-paste political spam. But then I scroll past a lot of the low effort garbage that's posted on Wordforge, so his impact on my browsing here is pretty minimal. Of course those kinds of posts are just a consequence of being on a lightly moderated message board. I think it's entirely foolish for the staff to think they can curb it.
I don't see why it's so hard to put someone on ignore or simply not read one's posts. I never read any of El Chup's posts before dumb-repping them.
I genuinely like Anna, gul, and John and I find gturner annoying as hell. Not the decision I would have made, though. I haven't been around lately and maybe the vibe here has just changed, but this seems so....against the spirit of this place. At any rate, shit changes I suppose. At the end of the day I'm not paying the bills. I think most of us are getting a little old for the drama for drama's sake, the faux outrage, etc. but I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.
