Not only are they off the mark, they're apparently stupid too; nothing is going to convince them of this, sadly! A semi-colon substitutes and, or, but or so, not a comma. Not that most people know how to properly use a semi-colon anyway
I always use an Oxford comma, because in statements like the latter, I see the speaker addressing "Beef" to inform him/her that chicken and pork are three types of meat. Which then leads me to question the speaker's credibility.
