When considering a staff member, you need to put your personal feelings aside, unless they are relevant somehow. The fact is Doc and I have gone round a few times...and it shouldn't matter.

He has some opinions on topics I really disgree with....this is not relevant.

What is:

Does he care about Wordforge? Yeah..I think he does. Despite everything he's still here.

Is he thin-skinned? No. With everything piled on him, he's toughed it out and taken it. You have to be able to do that when the shit hits the fan.

Has he done shit in the moderated forums? While staff is like everyone else and are free to participate fully in the Red and Gray rooms, there does have to be a higher standard in the moderated forums. I am not aware of any shenanigans by him is moderated forums, including rep shenanigans.

I have seen him on several occasions give balanced opinions on circumstances even involving people he doesn't like vs people he does like. He doesn't always just mindlessly support his friends.

All this is good foreshadowing that he would take the responsibility seriously and make a good attempt to be fair and not hit the bricks the first time the board gets testy with him.

That is why I would be inclined to give him a shot.

If I were an Admin, I would quickly create a Sexatorium where all members would be free to get naked.

A well thought post and you make some valid points, but frankly, I don't trust him enough to hand him the keys.

I don't think he's inclined to go off the rails so I'm not sure what there would be to be nervous about.

It's not like he'd be running the place alone either...most things aside from deletion can be easily fixed.

The number one thing is if someone really cares about the place...because if they do, they won't want to fuck it up and that's half the battle.

No, certainly not. You're the most objective administrator we have. It doesn't matter if you do hate someone's guts, if a legitimate grievance comes up, you look at it objectively and make a decision. I'd support you leaving...but ONLY if you were being appointed to the Supreme Court of the USA.

I'd hardly place Doc in the same category as Nick "I'm leaving the board forever until next Tuesday" Walzack. We've had some mods/admins with some serious power issues, but I think Doc just likes to fuck with people and present the opposite side of an argument (Granted, he should have taken a step back with the Roman Polanski thing, though). And like Tamar said, anyone who's take as much shit as he's gotten form posters--myself included--over the years and is still contributing more than flaming and attacking like a few individuals, could probably hack it as far as listening to the complains and concerns from board members.

I'd hope you don't blow your head off over a website. I've heard of people who have done that across the plains, but they're really taking their internet time toooo seriously.

The most snooty, TBBS-like administrator we've ever had was Chris. No sense of humor, no personality, pretended he was our fucking director of the WF FBI. Nick simply allowed drama to get in the way of his duties. Even Cassandra blew them both out the water. When I was doing something she didn't like back in the day, she politely addressed it with me and we resolved the issue like two civilized adults. Then back in the ring we went. I know this isn't going to earn me much fan mail, but I kinda miss the Austrian.

In all seriousness, though, Tamar, I think you make a fine mod and admin, though the recent Sokar-gate does raise my eyebrows to a degree, notably the double-standard that exists with 'repwhine' threads. I can agree with the notion that anyone starting a thread after getting negbombed does have a whining connotation to them, even if they're started with the intent to troll the negger, as my thread was when I suddenly got up Sokar's craw.

But when Sokar started his thread, it was, 'Oh, he's trolling.' See the problem here?

As for you stepping down or not, I'm indifferent. If you feel it's time to step down, do so. Otherwise, don't. If you feel enough people have an issue with you, find what that issue is and address it and go from there.

There's no need to take it so far. I find cutting myself works out just fine.
