I've pretty much voiced my opinion on this, but no the violet room is stupid.

That is the key. It's not that we can't ignore people, I ignore gturner's posts all of the time (not by software, I just skip past them). It's that these posts derail threads, and then new call out threads start, or some petty shit starts and just fills up the front page of the Red Room. As everyone probably knows by now, the Red Room is the most active forum. New members will see that and decide whether or not it's worth joining in on, or if they'd rather go back to just using Facebook/Instagram/Twitter/smoke signals/semaphore.

The other aspect of the Violet Room was also to contain posters who did nothing but disrupt everything. That kind of thing could fly back in the early 2000s, but this is 2016, and everything is connected. The landscape of the internet has changed massively in that time. So this move is just to keep us up to date with social media, while also allowing the vast majority of things to remain the same. That it's being fought is absolutely no surprise, but while some feel it's stupid, I think it is a good idea. In the interests of open discussion, I actually wasn't too fond of the idea at first, but the Admins brought me around once I saw what good it could do. The best thing about it is that it's not a software based solution. It's a simple forum addition.
