Anyone getting this when it comes out? Its very rare that I pre-order computer games, but this one is a must. Everything I've seen so far makes it look like a big improvement over Oblivion. Just hope my now ageing PC can run it OK.

Although I'll probably play COD MW 3 first, because it will out first by a few days and will be a much shorter game. Then I'll be able to properly dive into Skyrim undistracted. I must say though, the combat had better be a VAST improvement over prior entries in this series. Something like the V.A.T.S. system in Fallout might have been an improvement here as well, especially with some pre-amimated moves using melee weapons. The combat in the last couple has been fucking atrocious, IMO.

UTTER BASTARDS!! I got the game through the post today, a day early. But it wont let me install 'til midnight
This is very stupid. I chose to pre-load the files so I could play at 12.00 and 1 second... And its pre-loading them sloooowly from a very strained steam server.... I OWN THE DVD!! load them from that you dumb idiot!!
So how is it? I pre-ordered it from a brick-and-mortar, which is now 700 miles from me for reasons I'd not like to get into, so I have to wait until I get home on November 19th to play it.
2 hours in... Awesome! UI could be better but ill get used to it. Looks great, plays great and gets more interesting the more you play out the beginning Ive already wandered off the main quest and got in some trouble.... and made a few coins...
From what I've been reading that seems to be the top complaint about the Windows version of the game. The whole interface was designed around use of a gamepad controller and nothing much additional was done for the Windows version to take advantage of the keyboard and mouse. I don't have the game, but I'd suggest checking out Skyrim Nexus for mods over the next few weeks. The nexus sites are the best RPG modding sites available, imo (based on fallout 3, New Vegas, and dragon age), and there's bound to be something there eventually that makes the interface better.
So I read that there was a sidequest in the game that lets you get married? Cool. I missed out on Elder Scrolls IV but played an ungodly amount of hours with ES III. Looking forward to getting this new game, though I probably should upgrade my computer system first. I want to experience the game in the highest possible quality!
This game is absolutely AWESOME. Whats most surprising isnt how good it looks, but how well it runs looking this good. I have an old dual core 6000+ amd chip, 4gb RAM and a GTX 260 and I have it pretty much maxed.... with some .ini tweaks to further max it. I have a feeling I will be playing this for MONTHS
This is a great tool to use if you want to find out if your computer will play a particular game- http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/ It seems like I meet the minimum requirements but not the recommended requirements...
This game is downloading from Steam as I type this. Unfortunately, I'll only have about an hour to play before I have to be at a friend's birthday.
We have to download it from Steam? It doesn't just do it off the disc? I HAVE to make an online account? Fuckers.
Is there no way I can play this offline and not registered? Fuck I hate that. I should have just done Diablo III for that shit.
Really?? You can't play it offline? Did you get it off Steam or did you buy a retail copy? Disappointing if they've gone that route.
Here's a little tutorial for disabling steam: Using Offline Mode on a PC. Please follow the instructions below to configure Offline Mode on your PC: 1. Start Steam online - make sure the Remember my password box on the login window is checked 2. Verify that all game files are completely updated - you can see the update status for a game under the Library section (when the game shows as 100% - Ready it is ready to be played in Offline Mode) 3. Launch the game you would like to play offline to verify that there are no further updates to download - shut down the game and return to Steam once you have confirmed that the game can be played 4. Go to Steam > Settings to ensure the Don't save account credentials on this computer option is not selected 5. From the main Steam window, go to the Steam menu and select Go Offline 6. Click Restart in Offline Mode to restart Steam in Offline Mode
