I'm kind of hoping Villa will take it. It would be funny to see Liverpool, City, and Spurs all get beat out. I'm a sucker for a good upset.

Arsenal and the Spurs, mainly. Big chest thumpers that rarely win anything.

Arsenal haven't really won anything in the last 5 years, but you couldnt put them in the same category as Spurs.

Arsenal are one of the biggest clubs in England, and probably what you would refer to as the establishment club.

Spurs are nothing near the size or history of Arsenal. They do have a good proud history in English football, but would probably be more comparable to say an Everton.

Since Spurs and Everton were historically both big top six clubs I see nothing wrong with that comparison.

Oh, and I believe Spurs are something like the 11th or 12th richest club in the world, the next richest to the traditional top four. Hardly a small club.

I didnt use the Everton example as a stick to beat on spurs with. I know all too well that both are 'big clubs' in terms of English league teams. All I meant was that Everton would be a far more comparable team than Arsenal, when it came to Spurs.

I can't wait for this horrible season to be over. Events of the season have killed my affection for the game, to the extent where I haven't even checked my FF team in over 6 months. And now the most horrid of scenarios await us on Sunday. If Chelsea fail to win at Liverpool, ManUre will almost certainly be champions. For the 19th time! Hard to stomach, that.
For the first time ever I'm not hoping for a Liverpool win... :bang:

I can't wait to hear the chants about Gerrard - given the latest round of rumours they ought to be merciless!

Arsenal have peaked, I really see them as a team on the decline. Sure they have youth, but the youth will be sold off before they can make an impact and replaced with more youth because either the players will want to play for a winner or Arsenal just wants to cash in on the profit after buying them so cheap. They certainly can't compete with the depth of a ManU or Chelsea domestically, nor the big clubs continentally. So what you have is a perpetual team of inexperienced youth that definitely has skill, but nowhere near enough to put them over the top. Given the way they handle the business, they'll just be mired in medicrity. Also I think Wenger is slowly losing the plot. :)

Spurs are a different story though, it's quite impressive the strides they've made this season, and I'd love to see them finish the season in the 4 spot. It's a club with a long and proud history for sure, but until they win something they're just hard to take seriously. Definitely a team on the rise though.

As usual it will be a crock of shit started by the bitter blues. They hate talented scousers playing for Liverpool. Fowler was the victim of stupid rumours spread by Everton fans too, and Gerrard has had to put up with them for years.
Petty blueshite, their lack of success in recent years has really made them quite bitter and twisted.

Oh, and the Special Needs One through to the final.

Guess it goes without saying...come on Bayern! :D

In my opinion, Liverpool must play well on Sunday.
A win or draw would be a good result,
even if it gives Manchester United the title.

Man U are going to keep winning titles,
so Liverpool must win to keep up.

Get out there Camren, and support your team.

    Wow!

I had forgotten that Liverpool have to play Atletico Madrid on Thursday night,
and then Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

    This is asking too much.

It's not just two matches, it's two extremely important matches.

This is another huge break for Chelsea.
    I hate Chelsea.

Liverpool have given away their season. The best they can hope for is Europa League and I don't think players like Gerrard, and the various other ones capable of player for top sides, really give a shit. They know that they'll probably be poached come the transfer window if things go badly enough for the Anfield lot. I think Pool have a big season ahead of them next year which could either see them regain their top four status or become the "best of the rest".

All the more reason Rafa should "rest" the 1st team when we play Chelsea. ;)

Not that I'm suggesting we make life easy for Chelsea so they can win the title ahead of ManUre... :?:

    I agree.

Rafa has royally screwed up this season, and he's going to pay for it with his job.

I think we can keep hold of Torres and certainly Gerrard for next season at least, but if we have another shit season then the pair of them could be off.
Part of the problem has been our reliance on Torres. He's missed much of the season and we've struggled badly in his absence.
Next season will be very interesting in terms of the ownership of the club, the manager and which players we can bring in.
I still think we have a very decent team but we just need to strengthen the squad, as right now ManUre, Chelsea, Arse, Spurs and City have stronger squads. If we don't add a few more quality players we are going to struggle again.

If, at the start of the season, you'd told me Fulham would be Britains best hope of winning a European trophy, I'd have laughed.

    Liverpool though...

Probably got a Europa place next season, but in real trouble. Financially, the next 6 months need to see them need to be sold - but given the disparity in prices between the idiots currently in charge on what most people feel Liverpool are worth, I can't see that happening.

Could be a fire sale of players in January :marathon:

I feel my opinion has somewhat been vindicated by Liverpool bumming out of the EL last night.

I am also refreshed that for once I don't have to listen to the usuall scouser gloating over the delusion that they are as good as Man U and Chelsea and even find some of them agreeing with me.

Well done to Spuds - they're in the Champions League next season, and could yet still end up third which would be one hell of an achievement.

I wonder if Mancini will still be at City next season?

Fuck spurs getting into a qualifying round for the champions league, they'll probably get papped into the Europa anyway. Lastnight I was at what was quite possibly one of the best and most unbelievable games of football ever!

6-2 down with 25 minutes to go, and we come back and get a 6-6 draw, including us missing a penalty!

Keeps the dream of three seasons in Europe alive!

    Mon the 'well!!!

PS - I think my heart stopped at least twice in the last ten minutes and I probably wet myself. Not sure if it was sticky or not!

That's it for the Premier League season.

Chelsea win the title. Spurs take 4th.
    Liverpool finish in 7th place.

Congratulations to Ecky for winning the Wordforge Fantasy League,
for the third time in the last four years.

The World Cup kicks-off on June, 11.
England vs. USA on June 12.

And to Ecky, pushed to the end by Cobalt. But a great stack of fantasy points. :techman:

Hey, you were getting me worried creeping up on me! :D Teach me to take my eye off the ball, pardon the pun.

Nice to see Burnley go out with a bang, although El Chup may not agree ;)

And Liverpool... Only in the Europa because of Portsmouths fiscal failings, and in no small amount of debt. This summer is going to be interesting - and that's before if they lose Gerrard and Torres. They have until August to be sold or get some internal investment, at which point they'll be forced to sell some prize assets.

I can't see Benitez being there next season, but then if he refuses to leave they can't really afford to sack him. I foresee a deeply unpleasant 6 months for Liverpool.

Bolton. Next season I fully expect us to continue storming up the bottom half of the table, perhaps even dream of the dizzying heights of mid-table security...
