I'm usually pretty good with Excel but I need to do something new on this latest spreadsheet and I'm stumped how to get it to do it.

I need an equation that compares the figures in two cells and then always copies the higher of the two figures to a third cell.

If anyone has a clue how to do this please let me know.

    cheers

Dont know much about excel, never done equations in it. But i would think using the 'if' command and the 'greater than >' and 'less than<' would do it

    =IF([B1]>[A1],[B1],[A1])

    . . . seems to work.

I'm going to have to try this in Microsoft Excel, because so far it's doing very strange things in Open Office. But a very big thank you!

I had to change the coma to a colon and move the particular columns next to each other so the range didn't drag in nonsense from other columns. Now it works.

For some reason my copy of Open Office doesn't like the use of the coma. Can't see why.

Excel might as well be the Celtic language, for all I can do with it. :clyde:
