Any recommendations. Best deal on Amazon at the moment seems to be: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Dig...1_1/202-0310548-4013422?ie=UTF8&s=electronics but I've never used their products. Anyone got a good one - not too expensive?
Thats pretty good, Ive used western digital as an internal, lasted years This is ok as well http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=433264 and this, 320gb for £70 http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=463634
I recently acquired a Maxtor One Touch III Mini. It's a portable external in that it's a laptop hard drive that doesn't require an AC adapter. Only 100GB, but I use it mostly to store computer images and software instead of relying on a carrying case full of CDs. If you're looking for maximum space or don't need such convience as USB-only power requirements, it wouldn't fit your bill.
What size do you want? 1", 1.8", 2.5" or 3.5"? If you're only going to keep it at home, I suggest buying an external box and putting a seperate hard drive in it.
That looks like an awfully good buy to me, since I just spent more than that to buy a 160gig drive stateside. As far as quality, all I can say is that I feel that hard drives have become enough of a commodity item that they probably are more alike than different. If anyone knows differently, please feel free to correct me.
