Was looking for a good source to go with on this one. Two additional pieces of information I've found. 1.) (from the original Swiss articles where I found out about this) Apparently, she intends to return to Spain after carrying out the sentence and is now quite pissed about the delay since she needs to return quickly to renew her visa. 2.) Some English articles claim that she has said that she'll only be allowed to drop acid into one of his eyes as a woman is only worth half a man I must admit, I'm with AI on this one. If she does in fact go through with this, Spain should deny her re-entry into the country and send her back to Iran.
It's barbaric retribution to be sure but you know, there are thousands of women across mainly the Muslim world who have suffered acid attacks for refusing marriage proposals. And how many of the perpetrators are punished at all? Very few in countries that consider women a lesser species. So if this type of punishment helps to deter some of these savage men from carrying out these types of attacks then maybe an 'eye for an eye' type punishment isn't such a bad thing. Especially in a country where women receive little justice.
I have no problem with this punishment. Sure, it's barbaric, but any man throwing acid in a womans face is a barbarian, and deserves no better. I also endorse caning!
Have to agree. As "cruel and unusual" as the punishment supposedly is, it's nothing compared to the fact that it was done to the girl who hadn't done anything wrong. Fucker's got it comin'.

Presumably his parents, which adds another layer of deterrence to the punishment. Who do you think taught him is was cool to blind women in the first place?
I actually agree. I have no problem with applying the death penalty here. But the proposed solution is unnecessary cruel.
If you really think that anyone here had the guts to do anything so cruel to another human being, you are mistaken. People here talk the talk, but deep down, they're all gaping vaginas.
The assailant blinded and disfigured an innocent. That was one wrong. The proposed punishment is compensation for his wrong against an innocent; therefore, it's not a second wrong. It's interesting, though, that you think it's wrong for someone to have to face the consequences of such an assault. No, only refusal to give him what he gave her would be a second wrong.
I'm curious. What would you consider appropriate punishment for a malicious assault with a clear intent to harm... and one which resulted in permanent disfigurement of the victim? Jail time? A slap on the wrist? Personally, I wouldn't even bother with the blinding. You can't teach someone like this a lesson. You just need to put a bullet through their head and rid them from the world.
The fuck it is. Let's pretend it was one of yours, a sister let's say. Would your indignation pass such a test? Would you be so forgiving, or would the concept of revenge escape you? I think wearing those shoes your internet bravado would be totally different picture and you'd be in the same boat paddling away.
My rage unfettered in such a manner with no authorities to stop me, I'd wipe out their whole family, their pets, blow up their workplace, poison and ruin the mechanisms of every belief system they ever stood for, and obliterate their very memory from history. But that's not the point. I'd kind of like my country to run better than me. At least me on a really bad fucking day.
