I was thinking Farm Bill, but okay. Three...three of the most socialist policies in the books.

My in-laws own a a few farms (we're part owners of one :D) in Middle TN, and the one farm that they lease to a row cropper got cock punched by the trade war on China that Trump declared and promptly lost. I never want to see another soybean again.

Nope, by the standard Rogan fans demand, you need to listen to all of his podcasts, read all his books, track down his high school yearbooks, sleep in his childhood home, and taste his spit.

When I was growing up in the Florida panhandle (AKA "Lower Alabama") the price of milk was set by a "Milk Control Board" which set a (high) base price to protect farmers. I came across an article on Daily Kos (I'm not linking to it, because it's just an opinion piece and the DK is just left wing propaganda anyway) where the writer claimed that he spent part of his childhood in Norway where milk prices were subsidized to make it affordable for most people. I'm sure that Paladin and FF are equally outraged by both concepts. :spock:

That’s true for any economic system if the government is authoritative.

Odd. Your posts regarding him suggests your statement “put an end to the plutocratic system” is a lie as Robert Reich is suggesting exactly as you describe. “Fixing” the existing capitalist system.

Which is why it is unwise to hand more control to some central authority in the hope that this new power will only be wielded against people you dislike.

Economics is not the same thing as a form of government. In fact, the only way to have a true democracy would be to do away with all economic systems and only have a resource based economy - much like how hunter/gatherers governed their tribes and ensured all within the community were fed.

Capitalism is exactly the opposite of what you say you are against.

Apparently Norway subsidizes the farms to maintain small farms and not giant corporate farms like we do.
It's an old article, but relevant.

1: "Hey, let's give ultimate authority to the government so it can make things be the way we want them."

2: "And if the government decides to act in a way you don't like? Or your political opponents get control of the government?"

You know those things did happen under communism, right? Ayan Rand's father's business was seized by the soviets.

No government calling itself "Communist" has ever worked, although China might argue. However, I'm seeing rumblings from some international finance geeks that China is in the midst of a gigantic bubble that could make the dot.com collapse and the 2008 GFC look like mild recessions. Of course, even if we classify China as "Communist" (it really isn't, of course...it's a tarted up autocracy) we still have to address the questions of how you define "success" and what price in human terms you are willing to pay for that "success".

Do you think that’s totally okay or do you think something should be done about it?
