Oh, I'm not trying to convince her of anything at this point. I'm just making a last ditch attempt to get her to actually read what I've been posting over and over so that her responses are at least relevant. I probably would have let it go earlier, but Gul joined the discussion and I felt it was worth explaining myself for his benefit as he does not typically resort to arguing with the voices in his head.
Garamet isn't EVER going to get it, but I've learned a lot from Ash, Flow and Shooter in this thread, so I'm glad they kept it up.
That's the mistake. I refuse to believe she "doesn't get it". I refuse to believe she is as dumb as she acts here. I think she gets some sort of bizarre thrill out of getting people to keep trying to explain things to her. I think its a control thing...
Yes, Biden said that if Barry O is elected, he would be "tested" within 6 months because our enemies will perceive him as weak and untested. Man, that fills me with a lot of hope and change!
That conversation never took place. It was just Fox News doing a voiceover. Hilarious how he ignores it so he can blame McCain. Just like they try to blame McCain for talking about Ayers yet it was Democrats who brought it up first during the primaries.
"a lot of talk stations that seemed to do fine."? The format was nearly dead and gone in 1987. The format didn't start to return in a big way until 1992.
Apropos of nothing, but I find it hilarious that all we hear is liberal media this, liberal media that...when the most watched cable news network and virtually all of talk radio are both hard-right leaning.
So why is it, do you figure, that a conservative station is "the most watched cable news network"? Why is it that, in spite of a huge and very public effort to launch a for-profit liberal talk radio network failed dismally?
Because conservatives need their "infotainment" predigested for them, whereas liberals are smart enough to read several news sources and form their own opinions? Or because conservatives get lonely without their "Fuck, yeah!" quotient?
You may want the reply from the other side of the street- but I'll take a stab: The demand for liberal (or liberal-ish) radio is already well covered (even saturated) with supply. Either that, or the mainstream libs quickly recognized how crackpot so much of the fringe left sounds - when actually listened to on radio. As opposed to print media, where 'crackpot' may be a bit easier to swallow.
Because it's not entertaining. That's the only reason. Rush himself said when Air America was first coming on the air that they can only succeed provided they are entertaining. They aren't entertaining to liberals enough to come back for more. Hence they keep failing. Limbaugh pointed out that it doesn't matter how conservative/liberal you are because if you can't entertain the audience from behind the microphone you will have no career in radio.
