Not a typo: https://www.npr.org/2019/09/13/7592...ign=npr&utm_term=nprnews&utm_content=20190913 Meanwhile in other parts of Amerikkka, parents get five years for sending their kids to school in the next district over. Please. 14 days isn't enough time to finish booking her into prison before it's time to start her outprocessing. I will be surprised if she even spends that much time in prison.
Oh you were talking about the other thing, ok: https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/mom-went-prison-enrolling-her-191400017.html
Idiot. I was talking about a link to parents getting five years for sending their kids to school in the next district over. Everyone already knows about the Huffman thing.
I heard this on the radio on the way home. I didn't even know it was possible to go to prison for only 14 days! Generally prisons are for at least a year. You might be in a local jail for 14 days until your sentencing, which might be served in a jail if it's a few months but actual prison for only 14 days? What's the point really? I don't get it.
You'll all feel better when they send Aunt Becky up the river for 20 years for the same offense. Or maybe Uncle Joe gets elected and non-violent offenders spend no time in prison.
I know "I can do that standing on my head!" is just an expression but in this case....in just might be true.
here, anything over two years gets you in prison, any thing less leaves you in provincial jail. it's actually fairly common to be sentenced to "two years less a day", I guess because provincial inmates are cheaper than federal ones?
Libtards just wanted to celebrate a rich white woman going to prison. It's a replay of Martha Stewart. Fortunately, the judge didn't give in to the libtard bloodlust.
You're a dumbfuck who's chronically ignorant of the facts of any given situation. Federal prosecutors only recommended a month incarceration. Probation officials made no recommendation for incarceration at all, instead saying it was a victimless crime and there was no intent to do any harm. All Lori Laughlin wanted was to get her kid into USC. I mean, really? USC? The judge thankfully resisted the peanut gallery bloodlust and compromised with two weeks in prison. Huffman isn't the real perpetrator. She's just being made an example of because she's rich and white. The real perpetrator is the corrupt, for-profit college admissions industry. The admissions process is already an idiotic game, all Huffman did was pull a Kobiashi Maru scenario and change the rules of the game to get her daughter into a good school. William Singer just took advantage of corrupt SAT-industry insiders who were willing to take bribes to improve math question scores and allow unlimited time to complete the test. There is also the matter of corrupt athletic department officials who took bribes to classify incoming students as athletes, when they really weren't. Gosh, didn't someone somewhere notice that these kids never ended up competing in any athletic competition?
First, it is jail. Second, if her state is anything like CT she will not spend much more than processing in jail. CT drops 30 days from your sentence. It used to be 14 years ago, but they upped it to thirty. It is not something they like to put into articles. Since 14 days seems to be rather specific my thought is she will get processed and released immediately.
I agree Huffman couldn't have "acted alone" and the people who took the bribes and didn't follow up/looked the other way knowing there were shenanigans going on are also to blame. The whole system is FUBAR and everyone knowshould do time. yes, it's federal prison! I didn't know these were federal charges - but yes since the FBI was investigating then it's a federal charge. Of course some media sources say jail , and some say prison. But I had no idea two week sentences even existed. What a fucking joke! But here is one federal prison she's hoping for: https://radaronline.com/exclusives/...cushy-club-fed-chateau-dublin-luxury-retreat/
Meh, she pleaded guilty and apologized. A minimal sentence was to be expected. Laughlin's will be much harsher, assuming she goes to trial and is convicted of course.
But the jail does sound like a hellscape. TMZ: Felicity Huffman's Prison Life Will Include Tanning and Bed Making. https://www.tmz.com/2019/09/14/felicity-huffman-prison-fci-dublin-college-bribery-scandal/
How do they conclude it was a spectacular loss for prosecutors? This wasn’t crime of the century stuff. She’s not the ringleader of anything.
She's not going to prison. Under a year they just hold you in the county/Fed jail. Usually by the time the state/Fed prison system gets around to transporting you 14 days have already passed. It's not worth it.
