I rarely photograph my fish, but some guy happened to be nearby when I was fishing this evening and snapped a cell-phone pic. Can't tell from the pic, but it's around four pounds. Not great, but considering I was using an ultralight spinning rod with four pound test (and standing on the shore fishing flooded trees and a lot of weeds and brush) it took me a while to finesse her into lipping distance. Caught on a four inch green Zoom lizard BTW (my go-to springtime lure). Seconds after taking the pic, she was back in the water where all fine bass should be, since she wasn't hooked too deep.
Not really. That said: Trouser Trout Boxer Bass Pants Perch One-eyed Pike Anyway, I went today and DAMN! I got skunked. Nobody else was catching any either that I could see. I did see a bunch of geese out with their youngsters - they are cute as can be!
I have never fished saltwater in my life. I go to the ocean quite a bit, even go out in boats in salt water, but have never fished it. I'm not getting any younger! I really need to set up a plan to make it happen. I might just like it! You can only catch so many LM bass before you get burned out.
When I had my boat I used to go into the gulf about 30 or so miles out and just nail the grouper. Something to consider, going on a charter is expensive each time, but its a hell of a lot cheaper than owning, operating, and maintaining a boat. In addition the captains know where the fish are. Finally you can drink your ass off and not have to worry about staying sober. One of my favorite places is "the middle grounds" in the gulf. That's an over night trip. OTOH I go 30 miles out and am only in 100' of water. You can be there a few hundred yards off the east coast easy.
Yes, this is what I would do. I don't fish enough even in freshwater to buy a boat. Once turkey season ends in a week, my fishing stops and I am in the woods 24/7 (of my free time of course) scouting deer for September/shooting my bow. They have pretty cheap charter fishing packages here on the Georgia coast, and for a "one time" deal it's a pretty good bargain. I might do this once deer season ends in January.
