...I thought that just maybe...maybe things would be different. But its the same old same old. People just start right in fucking with each other. I thought there might be some kind of kool down. Can't we chill for like a week or so? The new folks are gonna be like what the fuck is up with this Wordforge mutha fuckas?? And really...we need those freaking emoticons, stat!!! Well if you can whistle you may have an orange slice!
We can't change who we are. But maybe some content for other room? Who here would like to see a thread on graffiti art for the Workshop?
Why would you think that? There's too much history between the old posters here. Too many feuds that nobody's willing to give up. I mean, if you thought someone was a fuckwit on the old board, why would your opinion change just because the software did? You ready to make nicey nice with apostle?
Well not nicey nice but I could chill for a while. I don't know it was just a thought. A person moves to a new place they fix it up. They don't make a lot of noise right away. They don't let the neighbors see them drunk on the first week. Ya know.
Hey, I've been chill since the change-up. Willing to make a fresh start on fresh software, as it were. Haven't seen a lot of reciprocity on that from the usual suspects, of course, but that's all on them.
Disagree. The two people who actually bothered to respond positively to the bygones be bygones thread will be treated differently by me from now on. I think the idea can work, but it needs to probably by some sort of mutual agreement. I think also people need to know the difference between heated debate and taking people to task on their opinions, and out and out trolling. For instance, if you take Captain X as an example, if people want to take him to task on his JJTrek bullshit then that to me is legitimate. However, starting a thread devoted to his virginity is out and out trolling that is designed for a meltdown. I also don't think that because something is a heated debate it needs to be utterly riddled with insults because, again, that, to me, is moving beyond the actual debate and is just trying to introduce nastiness for nastiness sake. The one thing that is most interesting about the trolling here is that, for the most part, it's done by people against people they have never met. I wonder if maybe people would take a different approach if they actually knew the complete person, as let's face it other than maybe Dayton, very few of us have revealed a full picture of our lives or personalities, and even then what has been revealed is not always an accurate reflection of the person. I suppose what it boils down to is that just because something is in the Red Room it doesn't mean people have to act like a cock. Yes, I know I've been more than happy to indulge myself in the past, but virtually nobody here other than Chuck is clean in that regard, and so everyone has to start somewhere.
My response to that thread wasn't even dispositive, except as regarded your very own jab right in the OP. Had you left that out, I would have been fully on board; but you have to forgive me for being skeptical when you made that last thing part of the very plank of the idea.
That was actually simply a joke. One of the problems here is that people have long ago stopped being able to take jokes. There is a difference between a joke and a nasty swipe. The very fact that only a very few posts later I was resolving things with Mewa should've answered any questions you had over the legitimacy of the suggestion. So let's have the real truth, you are obvious one of those people who wants people to make the first move. In view of own past insistence that you are some sort of master troll, what greater credibility would you have in approaching such an agreement than I?
In this instance? I'd say the fact that I've been acting on the "let bygones be bygones" idea should provide some pretty fair evidence toward the idea that I took it seriously. It's a new board; that may or may not mean that I'm going to be nice to everybody regardless of any an all provocation -- but I'm not retaliating based on any pre-move provocations, either. People treat me fairly here, leave the past in the past, and I'll do the same with them. It's a new start. I'm treating it like one.
We'll see. For the record, I think a dial back on the amount of spam would also be appreciated and acknowledged.
Chup, the problem is it's all in the eye of the beholder. You may say that you weren't trolling Castle, he claims you were. Or perhaps he's trolling you? Depends on your perspective. We saw in Dayton's thread about the Blue Room an almost universal response of joking. Then Apostle seemed to think my joke was an actual threat. Then Zombie rolled with that and made a joke about the "threat.". It's playful banter, it's why we're here. If people didn't want that, they'd post more in the other rooms.
Thing is that sometimes it's not playful banter. Sometimes it verges into nastiness. Plus there are people here, without mentioning names, who clearly aren't just in it for the banter.
