I may have a late Xmas present for you hosers at some point. In honor of the release of 5E DnD and my own former Greyhawk Campaign, I'm currently writing a story based on the famous A1-A4 Slave Lords modules, set in CY580 Flaenass. Since this is a fanwork and can't be sold for profit or whatever, when I finish I may post it here (and in a couple other places) just for fun. Those of you who've read my work in the past should know what to expect in broad terms. Character driven stories featuring 'big damn hero' protagonists with issues to overcome, written in a style that hopefully accurately reflects the milieu. This version of the story begins in the waters of the Azure Sea, and progresses from there through narrative and limited flashbacks. Familiarity with the World of Greyhawk and specifically the Sheldomar Valley, Keoland, Scarlet Brotherhood, and the Wild Coast is highly encouraged, if not totally necessary. Be warned, though: this is a labor of love by a WoG fan for WoG fans. If you nothing about Greyhawk, you'd best download some maps and lore or be lost forever. More to come...
Awesome, Marso. Zero familiarity with Greyhawk, but I'll brush up on it if it means you don't completely eschew us
I used to love Greyhawk and ran a 2nd edition game (so some modifications were necessary) starting with Him let and Keep on the Borderlands, progressing to the Slavers series, then Against the Giants, and I wanted to do Queen of the Demon Web Pits but we never continued past the Giants series. Man, those were good times. I still wish TSR/WotC/Hasbrouck would put a good faith effort into porting the old Greyhawk stuff into an MMO game. But I hear the estate of E. Gare Gyggax gets a cut of all Greyhawk stuff so Hasbrouck wants to push properties they own 100% of. I played and liked the old Temple of Elemental Evil video game (I owned the module but never played it) but it was definitely a low budget project and the developer abandoned it right after release.
