A raw deal? I fucking "raw deal" was the last time she did this....when she went on a board-wide rampage posting Kirk's name, in every forum and posting information she got in the Shelter out in public...and when several staff members are begging her to stop and she not only does not, but basically tells us to fuck off. She then started Help Desk thread after HD thread as fast as I could close them...I had not choice but to ban her. I begged her to stop and wait for Elwood to come online and talk to him but she wouldn't. Clyde begged her to stop. No dice. It wasn't just the private information...it was blatent disregard for quite a few rules. And even then she got let back in...when she swore she would never post Kirk's info again or pull a stunt like that again. And what has happened...she not only did it again..but admits she did it on purpose hoping Lanzman wouldn't honor Elwood's agreement. In what galaxy is her being banned for this a raw deal?? If she had never done anything like it before, I'd agree that it's harsh...but not only has she, but both times were a willful, blatent disregard for rules she helped create and she had ample warning what would happen if she did it again.
^I have to agree. I understand why many folks would want her unbanned but to suggest her banning was somehow inappropriate or unfair is simply untrue.
Meh. Again, she knew what she was doing. She was clearly losing interest in the place anyway. She wanted to go out with a bang (like many of us did at TBBS) and that is what she did. Her time is over. We should focus on trying to get new folks to sign up and stay on.

There is a difference with being "fine" with something and there being no rule against it. You don't like what someone says...if you need to protect yourself from their free speech use the ignore button.

In a sense, it comes down to trying to legislate morality. Do you need a rule to tell people "This isn't TK. A basic sense of decency should apply"? Of course not. But management needs to set a *tone* that says "This far, and no farther." There used to be such a thing on this board as social disapprobation...if a given poster got way out of line (I'm thinking of several of Tasvir's early meltdowns), the membership as a whole would show their disapproval and bring that poster back into some sort of decorum...at least temporarily, in Tasvir's case. Somewhere along the line, the general membership got tired of doing this, ownership changed several times, and one of the Unwritten Rules became "Does Tamar think it's funny? Will she talk about it in Chat? Then let's do it!!!" Tamar either doesn't realize, or refuses to acknowledge, how much influence she has on the tenor of the board. She misconstrues it as "I'm not controlling, I'm not manipulating, I don't have any power, I wasn't even online, you're all just paranoid!" She thinks I'm *accusing* her of controlling WF. I'm not. I've said this numerous times, but she doesn't seem to get it: People care what she thinks. That's a *good* thing. It's called "leadership." Then the only question becomes, do you use that leadership to make this the best damn message board ever, or do you play posters off each other to create and end up with Trollforge?

If you are stupid enough to post that a family member has cancer or you just killed your dog in the Red Room expect to get your ass trolled with it whether you like it or not. You may not like that and that's fine but that is what the rule is as of now. If you convince Lanz to change it then people will follow the new rule.

I figure it this way: She travels a lot. Nothing says she couldn't have started a dual from a Wifi cafe somewhere. Then again, anyone can read Red Room threads without being logged in. She's probably laughing her ass off at this. Now, Zombie will read this as me defending Cass. I'm not. She did what she did and she knew the consequences. I also thought she was being unnecessarily mean-spirited toward the end - not any more than, say, a Sokar or a Tasvir or... - but it's not like this place needs any more of that. But I will say I think her having formerly owned the board instills a great deal of FEAR in some folks. I mean, if she was smart, she kept the data base. She knows just as much of "YOUR SECRET INFORMATION" as the current staff does. Something to think about.
