I don't know when I'll be back online regularly... I fried my CPU yesterday, and since it's now melted to the heatsink, I can only use it as a paperweight :( I'm typing on a goddamned internet-cafe computer with enough goo on the keyboard to feed a zoo :bang:
No need for specifics, safe to say it was my own damn fault, but I'm fucked now -it was a socket 478, and my mobo's an asus p4pe, so unless I can dig up a store that still has a pile of old, old CPU's in a drawer, I'll have to buy a new mobo, new cpu, most likely new memory and new graphics card as well, since I have an agp. Oh wait, correction, I HAD an AGP, that actually died 2 days earlier (NOT my fault, it just started showing green and orange banners and ghosted images on screen, showing more corruption with every word I typed. Luckily a friend still had an old AGP card. But even if I manage to find a new CPU, gaming is no longer a possibility.
I really need to figure out something fast, as I need to hand in my final assignment, a full website for the internet course I am doing in three weeks :( :( :(

keep your fingers crossed.. just found one in an online store and the guy said he'd try to get it shipped today... it might not be a disaster after all depending on what else, if anything, is broken.. If nothing else, I'll get away with a 53 euro repair...

Back online! Not as slow and not as expensive as I had feared. In my nightmare vision I would have had to buy a new mobo, memory, graphics card, hell, probably even a new HD as I have 2 IDE's, no SATA.

But the online store I found had a 2.4ghz celeron to replace my 2.6ghz P4 for 53,- That plus 7 euro for cooling paste, so at 60 euro's I'm done. Still not very welcome as I am a poor slob, but I am happy again :D They did a great job, I posted yesterday from the internet cafe (eeeeew) at the time I placed the order, and I got the cpu today!
