Nope, just fucking with another pathetic homophobe. You seem really threatened by the very notion of gay people. Insecurity perhaps? And why would I be bitter? My side is winning. You project too much of yourself onto others.
I was at my brother's place where his main TV is hooked up to Disney 24/7 for his kids when I caught Andi Mack on TV. Even besides the rarity of an Asian family on TV, Andi's best male friend realizes he has a crush on Andi's new boyfriend. Disney played it straight (no pun intended) and treated it with the same respect they would if the friend had been a girl. PS: they were middle schoolers The only show that even attempted this stuff in my day was Degrassi, and even then a lot of episodes were edited or never aired (like one where a girl gets an abortion at 16 because it's Canada and won't cost her an arm and a leg or a two day trip to the nearest clinic). I was happy to realize my nephew recognized Voltron when I had Tumblr open to a (thankfully work safe) gif. Maybe I can get him to sit down and watch the actually show and counter my brother's homophobia.
Cartoon Network has a few shows like that too. Steven Universe is about a boy living with a team of super powered queer, female identifying aliens who protect Earth. It’s a fairly complex show that deals with a lot of complex emotions yet still manages to be understandable to kids.
Yeah, I've heard of it. It got voted Tumblr's most toxic fandom two years running Which is a shame because the show does look great, even if it's not my style. I did watch that wedding episode recently and I found it cute.
The fandom is a bit shit, like a lot of fandoms unfortunately. Wonderful show though. Oddly enough the only non-toxic fandom I can find is Venture Bros. But it requires a lot of patience for both the seasons and for storylines to pay off. It’s weird that it started as Johnny Quest parody and just became a fairly sweet natured show about how even heroes and their villains need each other.
Yu-Gi-Oh has always been calm, even ten years ago at it's peak. Probably helped that the top five ships we're all slash pairings so there was no way in hell anyone expected that. All fandoms have wank, but most of the shit on Tumblr can best be described as puritanism with a gay hat stuck on top. Like shipping and social justice have intertwined in some.....interesting ways: https://lines-and-edges.tumblr.com/post/178438029992/anyone-under-the-adage-of-20-cant-be-friends https://grumpy-old-fandommom.tumblr...ay-the-media-talks-about-the-florida-shooters And my personal favorite that is gturner levels of wheelspin: https://grumpy-old-fandommom.tumblr...1/stevonnie-against-mdlb-grumpy-old-fandommom And that's just ONE archive dedicated to combating this insanity. The Shiro/Keith ship is a frequent target for this crap, which is how I first heard of VLD to begin with
There's some weird shit on Tumblr, it's like polar opposite of 4chan in many ways. There's a community that's obsessed with serial killers and mass shooters, it's mostly teenage girls who have crushes on them. Anakin Skywalker is very popular with them too. There's also some pedophiles who try to relabel themselves as "minor attracted people" or maps for short. The more you look, the more messed up shit you find.
Ugh, MAPs are on Tumblr too, and there's some overlap between them and that ship nonsense above. I do think they should be able to self report urges without fear of arrest for thought crime so they don't harm a child in the first place, but celebrating it? Not really.
I actually do have an account on Tumblr, but I only follow art accounts. Stuff like artistic pictures of space or scifi landscapes, gives me a lot of great backgrounds.
Well, the series and the fan reaction makes the reception to These Are the Voyages look like an iconic TV Hallmark in comparison. They kill off the princess for the "greater good" and then Shiro gets gay married, but not to the guy he'd been friends with for years and that saved him a hundred times but to a random. Hand to God, I think even Enterprise fandom had a few people defending that finale, if only because they were salty about about Archer/T'Pol getting tanked and we're glad to see the Trip fans being up in arms. @El Chup for all his crumgrudgery of adults getting wrapped up in kids shows would've gotten a kick outta it. But there's an article kinda summing up some of the issues, like sticking on gay rep at the last possible moment to pander to bigots while patting themselves on the back for inclusivity, which is pretty lame and never makes anyone on either side happy. Still, it's a mark of progress that people are tinhatting about the rather abrupt change in story surrounding a gay character on a kid's show when the idea of an open gay wedding of any kind would've been seen as something in the realm of crackfic even three years ago. And just to piss off the homophobes: GAYS IN SPACE! ACK!
Well, yeah, if you watched DS9 for any length of time that became obvious real quick. Even on TNG was a whole episode on how Dr. Crusher couldn't handle the relationship after the host switched genders.
Shinji is really annoying. The show was vastly improved when they brought in asuka to slap the shit out of him. Misato was awesome, but she did not hit shenji enough. One would think with gendo as a father the beatings would have come from him, but surprisingly he was mostly psychologically abusive.
