Not gay, but I always thought Adam was the best, though you forgot to mention Candy, who was a pretty damn cool honorary Cartwright. No surprises that my number one and number two had the same role, since Candy was brought on to replace Adam after Pernell Roberts left the show.

Well, many years ago (before reality shows) Westerns ruled the three channels - Bonanza/Ponderosa, Mule Train, Rawhide, Gunsmoke, etc.
And then came detective shows - Mannix, Kojack, Ironsides, etc.
