Guy behind Pence looks nervous, like he's realized if a sniper does shoot Trump in the head there's almost no solid matter in the intervening noggins to stop a thru-and-thru.
Is it bad if I say he'd deserve a Medal of Honor if he were to go out that way? *Gets put on the FBI and SS watch list...*
Because Cheney is the ultimate "this is how we do shit in Washington" guy and Trump is the ultimate "fuck that noise, hold my beer and watch this" guy.
^All those heart attacks, how is it Cheney isn't dead yet? And what's up with these 'royal' funerals, even McCain seemed like a 3-day affair - though at least they didn't give postal workers another day off. Meanwhile the USPS lost something like 5 billion last year or year before, and around 65 billion since 2007.
He got a heart transplant. No shit. This is despite the fact that were he not an ex-VP, he would have likely been denied it. And before anybody gets bitchy, let me say that I like the French system when it comes to organ donation. In places like the US, it is an "opt-in" system, meaning that you have to specifically say you want to donate your organs, while in France, it's an "opt-out" system, meaning that you have to give a reason why you don't want to donate your organs when you die. The French don't have a long waiting list of people waiting for organs, while the US does.
Well, that's just because the GOP is gearing up to legalize buying and selling organs. Who is the government to tell us what parts of our body we can't sell? After all, people donate blood and men get paid for sperm deposits. There's a huge demand for organs, and so much money to be made.
Has anyone been hearing this narrative from the talking heads about how Trump shouldn’t have gone to the funeral and somehow he made it all about him even though he didn’t and was invited by the Bush family? What do they expect from a sitting President? Do they just need to bash him no matter what? I don’t get this line of thinking, he’s the President, he’s supposed to attend these type of things.
Yeah, my daughter was talking about that tonight at dinner and I told her that the president pretty much has to go to something like this.
If he hadn’t of gone, they’d be losing their minds. He didn’t go to McCaine’s funeral because he wasn’t invited.
It's been reported that Bush, knowing the end was near, specifically told the family to make sure Trump was invited and that there would be no politics at the funeral. Trump also didn't make this funeral about him. I don't see how anyone, even the most strident Trump haters, could make the claim that he did with a straight face. It's not a legitimate claim.
that's not the arguments I've hear. What I heard was some reporting that PUS was pissy with his staff BECAUSE he dared not make it about himself, which I imagine is true. I agree that while he was typically piggish in posture and mood, he didn't DO anything to deliberately draw attention. He was just naturally sullen.
Yeah but no one believes you because your sources, like CNN, are crap. They hate the man so much they were trying to make the funeral about him. And his posture and mood was no different than anyone else.
with the post office taking the day off now they will have to fuck up people's mail twice as fast to make up for it. But it is kind of fun wondering whose mail I'll get! They pull up to my box, close their eyes, reach into their bag and pull out a surprise! It's more fun than eating Cracker Jack!
Yeah here I was thinking "damn it's nice that Trump (the wildcard I will admit) and everyone else were behaving themselves" at the service and that media sources across the board were keeping things civil and positive for the most part. But then true to form a few outlets had to drag Trump into the mix. Fucking classless pricks!
Surprisingly, I hadn't heard anything of the sort in my circles, and I honestly can't think of anything he did wrong. Like shootER said up thread, this is one of those things a President is supposed to show up to. It would have been more of a distraction if he hadn't gone.
