I didn't mean for it to play out that way.

I'd rather the thread be closed/deleted than Marso and/or this board get into some serious legal trouble. I think we've had enough RL consequences/problems for one week.

He was quoting snippets from the book, not making it into a torrent.

    Better safe that sorry.

Even so, I don't think Diacanu meant to cause drama with his sentence.

    Well, maybe a little.
I mean, I wanted Marso to prostrate himself before me weeping like a child, admitting his hypocrisy, and swearing allegiance and servitude to me forever.

But not his thread taken down. :(

Under that logic, we should get rid of all sigs and avatars. There are bound to be loads of potential copyright and trademark violations there. :stars:

Well, that's why I thought it would be easier for Marso to go "you're right, I'm lousy at being a libertarian, I spout one thing, and do another, it's not humanly possible to ride such a thin robotic path, it's nothing to do with real life, your anarchic nihilist ways are the way to truth and happiness, I worship thee, I worship thee, I worship thee".

    Y'know, no biggie.

Other thread locked as per request. Mark, don't forget the 'fair use' provisions. I don't think we'd have a problem with sigs, avs, or what's left of Marso's thread.

Once again, my striving for excellence in comedy has ruined lives.

Why is it such wretchedly hard work having a good time?

It's 'cause I said it was my favorite thread of the weekend. Nothing Dicky loves more than to fuck with something I'm enjoying, apparently.

What makes you think I was entertained by it?

I was very neutral about it. In fact, I only skimmed it, to be honest. The only thing that I got out of that thread was a reference to an officer that I served under while I was in the service.

Even then, if I had missed it, my life would not have been one bit poorer.

    Wanna know what's ironic?

I've had Dicky on Ignore since he gave up his modship. 95% of what he posts is self-indulgent spam and now I can finally skip it.

So I didn't twig to any of this until Garamet responded to it, and I saw her reply. Of course, when someone like Garamet talks about copyright stuff, you tend to listen, hence the kyboshing of the mighty F-14 Tomcat thread.

I highly recommend the book- awesome stuff. Oh, and the offer to translate 'lingo' still stands. If you don't know what it means to hit the dirty shirt for some autodog, or why you'd exit the octofleurogon in Zone V, I'm your man. :D

Ohhh, he has me on ignore.

I thought when he seemingly ignored my questions in the thread in question, that at first, it was a thread he didn't want commentary in, until he answered other people, then I thought he was being a shitty cock.

It was this irritation that put me in the frame of mind to notice "geez, pal, are you gonna post the whole fuckin book, or what?".

Then, it occured to me to just tease him on that point, and then it got out of hand.

    Ah, the irony.

So I guess you clowns would rather see Marso and Wordforge in danger of unwitting copyright violation and all the potential nasties that come with that? :wtf:

What wonderful friends you are. :dayton:

markb, educate yourself on copyrights as they pertain to printed matter before you run your mouth again.

Marso made the right call. And I'm glad Diacanu brought it to my attention, because I hardly ever visit the Green Room and it would have slipped under my radar.

Anyone :sob: about this is an asshat. You've got enough excerpts in that thread to whet your appetite. Live dangerously and go buy the frigging book, ya bunch of fucking cheapskates!

I am sick and tired of the fear mentality that has seeped into just about every part of American life. Fear the dark, fear the stranger, fear bending the rules, fear posting snippets of a book, fear a thread title, fear not flossing enough.:jayzus:

Your average American is turning into a quivering little asswipe, afraid of his own shadow.

It's something I know a tad bit about.

Enough to want to prevent anyone on Wordforge from getting into trouble over it.

The question is why you don't comprehend that.
