It sure is a good thing Obama mandated all government agencies make payments only after clearing the person's status with the Social Security Administration.

    That will fix this!

Ummmm.....it's the GOVERMENT! By it's nature it's not designed to be a well-oiled machine. The workers can't be fired very easily, so this breeds ineptitude.

it's not the checks that bother me so much, it's the annual cost-of-dying increases.

    1) It would be nice if the article, or the article it linked to, mentioned the provision of law under which these checks were sent out.

    2) It would be nice if this article, or the article it linked to, mentioned how many checks were actually cashed rather than merely how many were returned.

And while dead people don't spend money, inmates surely do. It's not like they've got much reason to save it. Anyway, prison concessionaires deserve to make living. That's good stimulus. :bergman: ;)

the bigger question is - as Rush pointed out today - that a Federal government that can't keep up with a relatively simple data point like who has died will soon be charged with sending out millions of insurance subsidy checks to the appropriate places EVERY month, despite ever changing circumstances of coverage and employment and etc among those beneficiaries.

    That's gonna go SO well.

In a nation of 310,000,000 or so people, if it took a week to process checks we'd end up with at least this many mistakes.
